SIRI Institutional Ownership On The Rise
I rely on multiple sources for information when it comes to my investments. One such resource is MFFAIS.com. Now before you invest based on any of the following information, you need to know that it is NOT current information. It is based solely on the reporting of mutual funds and their requirements by the SEC, and describes previous activity. In other words, the information may no longer be valid as of today. I watch it to spot trends in mutual fund activity and get a feel for the general consensus.
Having made that perfectly clear, I thought it was important enough to bring to your attention that the buy/sell ratio was reported at 2 to 1. In other words, for each mutual fund that sold shares, two were buying. The last time I checked the site, institutional sellers were outnumbering buyers by a slight margin. The buying percentage has jumped to an amazing 60.84%!
The current report lists 202 funds as having purchased shares versus 101 funds selling. There have been 87 new funds purchasing SIRI shares and 115 have increased their holdings, including Goldman Sachs which despite its long history of maintaining SIRI as a SELL, now owns a total of 11,244,513 shares, having added 7,023,867 shares in the previous quarter.
Position: Long SIRI

Pretty much worthless information for knowing institutiional ownership at this point in time. The last update for SEC filings was Oct 31, 2008. At that time a net 463 million shares were sold by institutions compared with the end of June Qtr — not exactly increased institutional ownership at the title of your article suggests. Don’t be fooled by the report date — the data is of 3 qtr end , not real time.
The year end 2008 data is not required to be reported until 90 days after the qtr end — another month from now and it too will be obsolete by the time its reported. Of course some do report before that deadline, but not many.
The only institutions required to report essentially real time (and even then there is a delay often) are those with more than 5% ownership — Sirius doesn’t have any of those at this time.

It’s not astronaut science! From the words of Sun Tzu:
Good generals are otherwise..they are not committed to death
yet do not expect to live… they act in accord with events
…not quick to anger .. not subject to embarrassment.. when
they see possibility they are like TIGERS… otherwise they
shut their doors… their action and inaction are matters of
strategy.. and they cannot be pleased or angered…..
The possiblity is so evident. The business model works and though in its embyonic stage post merger it shows that in its adolescent years it will produce positive EBITDA (operating cash flow) for years to come. The fixed costs don’t change no matter how many subscribers you get. There will be capital expenditures (i.e. new satellite launches, etc.), however, these will be able to be paid for with “balance sheet cash” in 18 months… the variable costs are the only issue (i.e. do we hire, fire, add channels, delete channels, etc)…
From the words of Sun Tzu:
If the leadership is wise.. then the country is safe
I’ve never met Leon Black or Mel Karmazin personally but i have read and know a little about their business acumen.. These are some Real True Players… Mr. Black goes back to Drexel Burnham Lambert under the tutelage of Michael Milken during the leveraged buyout crazed 1980′s.. This guy has been doing deals since his start in business and this is all he knows how to do..
Mel Karmazin led Viacom for a number of years to record market share/penetration and profits before taking over at SIRI.. What better Media general would you want?!!!
I don’t see either of these 2 men risking their 30yr+ legacy on on BK’ing SIRI… Just don’t see them allowing that “stain” on their resume… Jealousy and envy are very much the order of the day and the more successful you become the more HATERS you attract..
think about it
phonograph, reel to reel, turntable, album, 8 track, am radio, cassette, am & fm radio, cd…. ahh what a beautiful thought for all those who remain poised and patient..
long SIRI with my Suede Puma’s in a BBoy stance listening to RUN-DMC on BackSpin 43!

Thank you Brandon -any good news is always welcome with this company
Of course there is some guy called “wise guy” or perhaps “wise one” on MSN message board who has a company listed that just sold a bunch as well-it you believe any of his posts.
Thanx again.
Dead Elvis,
That guy “wise One” from the MSN board is a tool. He has been posting negative stuff on SIRI since 2001.
he has no life and I can’t believe we are giving him any credit here
