Robin Quivers Gets Her Own Show – “The Chatter” On Howard 101
Some think it should have happened long ago while others feel that Robin Quivers getting her own show is an outrage. That is the beauty of the Howard Stern channels. They are full of opinionated debate and loyal listeners which, whether they support the new show or not, will certainly tune in. Some will listen because they love it. Others will listen to amass fodder for the Stern Show.
Quivers has been with Stern for many years. Throughout that time she has been a staple to the show delivering news, commentary, and sometimes even a bit of sanity to what has become one of the most prolific radio shows in history. While this is not the first time that Quivers has had ventures outside the regular Stern Show, it is the first time she has been a headliner on Sirius XM’s Howard 100 and Howard 101.
Quivers new show, called “The Chatter” has been compared to the format used on the ‘The Joy Behar Show,’ where, as coincidence would have it, Quivers has guest hosted several times. Quivers will offer up her opinions on the news stories of the week and discuss current events with three guest panelists.
The premiere episode, which aired October 13th, featured comedian Paul Mercurio, blogger John Devore and Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead The show does not take itself too seriously and is a good and entertaining listen. While some topics can lean toward serious, Quivers finds a way to bring a bit of fun into each aspect of the show. With rotating guests the show could become a draw for celebrities. The Chatter should also benefit from the guest list of the Howard Stern Show.
The Stern Show is about 10 months into a new 5 year deal. Many talented people in the Stern Fold are beginning to branch out and build their own personas, perhaps in recognition that Howard Stern may well retire when the current contract is up. A Robin Quivers hosted show on the Stern channels is a natural fit. The big question is why it took so long to come to fruition. The Chatter with Robin Quivers can be heard every Thursday at 1:00 PM on Howard 101.
Position – Long Sirius XM Radio
Robin’s show is completely UNLISTENABLE.
After over 30 years in the business, this was the best she could do?
What is going on now at the Howard Channels should not be allowed by Sirius-XM.
The complete lack of effort coupled with real professional talent is an insult to paying subscribers.
Completely agree. She needs to slow down and be a little more conversational, like, hate to say this, Oprah. I’m not a huge fan of hers, mostly because she interupts Howard’s interviews, but she can be poignant and does have good points sometimes, so with her having her own platform it’s surprising she does such a maniacal show. It’s like she and the production of the show are on a red bull high. The show has attention deficit disorder!
No show finds its legs on the first run…it will take a minimum of 3 months for Robin to get this right for the audience and for her own personality…..25+ years behind the glass with Howard as the backseat means she’ll need to adjust to being the Host, not the co-host….
BaBaBooey! What’s your position with Sirius’ stock? You’ve always been a “Rocco” on this stock.
I only heard one show so far and I really Liked it.
She had Collin Quinn on and he was so funny because he was very relaxed.
At this point, Robin is very non-threatening on this show and it seems like she’s flying blind which is interesting to me.
Robin needs to calm down. She is clearly reading most of her stories at the beginning. This is not a 30 second news update, so slow down, be more “conversational” in your delivery, and so “chattery” (pun not intended…much). Robin, be true to your 34 score. Let your ego fly……………
Robin, I ADORE you! Been a Howard Fan for years! Larry! Brilliant for you to battle swords in this medium!! Love your brain, brother! KEEP IT UP!!
to hear her opine about politics is to see into her twisted and haughty mind. When talking about the soldiers urinating on the bodies of the dead Taliban, she disagreed with their actions and said “we have to be better than that.” Typical response from her, lacking empathy and understanding but not afraid to sound-off as-if she knows anything at all about the subject of war. Robin is an overpaid, myopic, know-it-all liberal who is blinded by her hard-wired political bent. Laughing for a living and reading news stories that rile Howard is not contributing much to society, but yet she is paid 12 million a year to do it. She should get on her knees, humbled, and thank a higher-power that she is so very lucky to have met Howard. We are all sick of her constant interruptions, phony yucks and “often wrong, never in doubt” personality.
Howard would be NOWHERE with out Robin. Any long time Stern fan knows this. They’re just too polite to say it.
first time listening to the Chatter–should be called the giggle -Robin has to lose that constant laughing
