In a filing with the FCC National Public Radio, NPR, has come out against the merger of Sirius and XM. In a 25 page petition, NPR outlines reasons why they have taken a position against this merger. They do outline some concessions that they feel would be needed if the merger were approved, but in their opinion these concessions would be difficult to obtain or regulate.
NPR does have a presence on satellite radio already, as well as terrestrial radio. The popular programming is an attractive part of the Sirius line-up. The basic argument NPR puts forth pretty much mirrors stances taken by the National Association of Broadcasters.
