musicFirst, a group formed representing the recording industry, issued a humorous press release yesterday slamming the National Association of Broadcasters. The banter between the organizations centers around proposed legislation that would have terrestrial radio pay royalties to artists. Currently, there is no royalty paid.

For sector watchers, it is interesting that neither musicFirst, nor the NAB bring up satellite radio in their arguments. Currently satellite radio pays royalties.

In the Press Release, musicFirst "gifted" four songs to the NAB using i-Tunes:

  • Take The Money And Run - Steve Miller Band
  • Pay Me The Money Down - Bruce Springstein
  • Back In The U.S.S.R. - Paul McCartney
  • A Change Would Do You Good - Sheryl Crowe
