As I reported earlier on SSG, support from the League of Rural Voters is significantly important. The issue of rural areas was a major sticking point in the Direct TV and Dish merger years ago, and with satellite radio, it appears to be distinctly different.

The matter gained even more press today with the League's Executive Director, Niel Ritchie, saying "In many rural areas throughout America, commercial radio reception can be extremely limited. Satellite radio has offered listeners in rural areas a robust alternative with hundreds of specialized channels that meet the programming needs of rural America."
