Having been a satellite subscriber since the beginning, I have had the opportunity to listen to some of the greatest content available on satellite radio. In afternoon drive I often find myself conflicted on what show to tune in to, but more often than not, I tend to catch the Jay Thomas Show on Sirius XM Stars Too.
Jay Thomas is set to begin his Holiday Road Tour. For five years “Jay Thomas’ Holiday Road” has found the weirdest and wildest places for you and your family to visit during your summertime vacation. These "tourist traps" often exist to attract attention to what might otherwise be a remote area in some unknown county. What makes the Holiday Road Tour such good radio is not necessarily the attraction itself, but rather the people that created it, and the people who have visited it. When growing up I was fortunate enough to have traveled across the country several times by car. I can relate to the Holiday Road Tour because I have seen some of the items he has discussed over the last five years. It is simply great radio.
From the Biggest Ball of Twine, to the Umbrella Cover Museum or a replica of Stonehenge made out of Cadillacs, Jay has talked to them all. This is where you, the listener, come in. Jay needs your help to find nominations for the next Holiday Road destination. Do you know a wacky, off-the-wall museum? A place with the largest collection of something? Or somewhere they have the ‘World’s Biggest’ thing? If so, send your entry idea to firstname.lastname@example.org and you could win $500! Include your name, phone number (where they can reach you), and the place you think would make a good Holiday Road destination.
Throughout the Summer Jay will review what he feels are the best entries and interview the entrants by phone during his show. If your entry makes it on the show you will be entered into a pool to win the $500. It is as simple as that. Of course, knowing a bit about Jay's personality may help you in your quest. Did you know he had a softer side? Read about that in The Softer Side of Jay Thomas. Jay Thomas - A Sirius Star gives even more insight, but the best way to know Jay is to simply listen to his show.
It should be noted that only entries that make it on the air will be added to the pool. Thus, you have to get past the subjective decision making of Jay to make the grade. You can send as many different entries as you like, from 5PM ET on June 1, 2010 to 5PM ET on September 3, 2010.
The lucky winner will be announced on the Jay Thomas Show on September 9, 2010.
ENTER online only from 5pm ET 6/1/10 to 5pm ET 9/3/10. See Official Rules for more details.
Spencer chatted with Jay Thomas live on the air today. Be sure to catch the replay.
