LOL.
Honestly I only remember Brandon being 100% for RS.
I think that it was put on the agenda to satisfy NASDAQ requirements. However, again MEL refuses to communicate his reasons for it.
That is why until Mel does, I’m holding my specific opinion on RS, until after the conference call.
This company has the most PATHETIC PR I can imagine.
Mel is like listening to reruns of groundhog day. That being said.
I’m going out on a limb and saying that in spite of merger costs etc., etc. Mel may have a decent conference call. It’s a week from Monday. Nov 10.
So……………where do we go from here. It’s all about the conference call right now. If you sit here reading this, Mel is faced with the FEB debt first.
A good CEO would have it solved by Nov 10. No way should we hear again, that the debt issue is “going” to be fixed.
I really think Mel has been cutting costs like crazy these past three months. We’ll see. However, this conference call IS Mel’s first real chance at having the company under his control solely.
Did anyone remember that he did have Sirius cash flow positive as a stand alone.
I saw people out in force this weekend. The gas price going down to 2.69 in my state, has a huge impact on peoples driving.
You wait. People will get those cars going again, and then car sales will turn around and we will see a big boost in this stock.
There are ads on tv again for companies offering low interest financing for purchases. Have you repaired a used car lately? It’s expensive. I bought a used car recently and priced a new radio with Sat radio and it’s not bad.
There is good equipment out there for reasonable prices.
And hey did you notice that when you upgrade to HD radio, that your new radio offers XM or Sirius? It’s true.
It’s true competition. If satellite radio has a future it has to compete with HD for it’s business.
One thing I still think is unresolved is this commercial issue. I agree with Tylers article on commercials, and think that this issue is still unresolved.
Also I believe in Egiscodr’s take that there should be some kind of rewards program.
I get emails from local stations constantly regarding their current point programs.
There is no reason Sirius/XM can’t do the same. It easy and relatively inexpensive.
I heard an ad on local radio where home builder would give you 75,000 pts to your radio rewards program for walking through the models.
Why not here. I guarantee you could farm out the program to a sub contractor who specializes in these programs.
Did you get that Led Zepplin email. This are the kinds of emails they could make much better use of.
Mel, get you head out of you ASS and make something good happen Nov. 10th. Or my sorry ass will be emailing M. Hartleib.
Friggen, you know what, I’ve heard N. Pelosi from my state, whine about the G. Bush politics now for years.
They should shut up and do something. Two stroking it is bullshit.
And after Tuesday when they have control of all branches of government, which is completely insane. I never want to hear another whining politician blame it all on Bush.
Cause that’s what they will still do. I can hear it now. We are still trying to salvage the Bush years. LOL.
In my opinion Dick Cheney is the DARK Side of all that is dark. But hey I”m just some dumpshit, typing on a blog, on a Sunday morning.
Happy November everyone. Let’s hope for a good month to all.
Tyler..Friggin..
We have time before any delisting which was a blessing in our case.
The 3qtr cc will throw some light on where we currently stand.I still think the company is on track.
I still believe the annoucement for a RS and to issue more shares was premature and that statement should not have been requested by the mangement at this time. It was an additional factor in driving down the share price.
I am voting No on any reverse or issue of more shares. Mangement needs to switch from that bail out thinking to operating the company to achieve profit.
GetitStraight…
Short the hell out of the stock after any RS?….But I am a long.
However, I will go short if they RS.
I think you are right on the money and you’re thinking and action will take place on a very very large scale if a reverse split occures. If we join all the hedge funds, shorters, naked shorters, the stock will go down.It will be a feeding frenzy.
The other reasons they will be successful in taking the stock down, is the past history of SiriusXM tells you to do it, the May and Dec notes are still out there, we are not profitable, a huge float, a reverse split, and if they get the RS they will HAVE to issue more shares.
A reverse split does not bring in money, in fact it will drive the stock price down even further making it even more difficult to obtain favorable financing. Then the the May and Dec notes become like the Feb note is now.
So SiriusXM will have to issue more and more and more shares to try and get the money.
What direction will the stock go in under those circumstances and pressure?
Friggin…if they get the RS vote we may need to join Get it Straight and the dark side and short the hell out of SiriusXM until they fold.
We have to be vigilant during the next year to make sure that the RS is not planned to help take the company private. If it is, we need to get a class action suit started a with a high profile law firm.
I am 100% against a RS for the above reasons.
imho
vaporgold
Vapor,
I AM NOT in favor of the RS or dilution. I am not suggesting anyone vote for it. (Just to be clear.) I will not vote for it unless Mel basically says it would only be used as a last resort in December of 2009. I will accept it over BK. I will not bite off my nose to spite my face.
But yes, Mel can get the price above $1 without the RS. (That’s why in the long run it won’t matter if it is approved. I believe it won’t ever need to be enacted.) So if the RS is approved the shorts will eat away. When others are running out of the “burning building” I will buy more shares than I can hold.
When the smoke clears, those with the most faith will either be complete idiots or get bumped into a higher tax bracket. In the latter scenario I will happily spread 5% more of my wealth.
Just planning on turning lemons into lemonade.
By the way, I’ll bet that there are at least a few people who drive trucks, weigh over 300 lbs, chew tobacco and own a bunch of guns who will be voting for Obama.
J56D, you are more proof that first impressions are not always correct. Are you a Stern fan?
And another thing.
Have you noticed the East Coast dominance of this company?
There is a huge customer base just waiting to be marketed to in California.
LA, second biggest city in the U.S.
Howard is an East coast marketing miracle. But in California there are other options.
Here are a few.
1. A large profile Spanish speaking comedian or other appealing segment. George Lopez comes to mind. The Spanish speaking population is huge. They love soccer. Add a Spanish soccer station, and your subs will skyrocket. Think I’m kidding. You need to be around here and see that they love the radio. And Spanish stations are big time on the airwaves.
2. There are many famous black comedians and talk show host, possibilities. No Oprah, is not what I was thinking.
3. The bay area has a huge traffic population. There needs to be programming directed at this market. Same sex programming is a necessity. Think out of the box. There is a huge revenue stream waiting for a product that works towards them.
4. Resigning more sports guys and more of the same white music hosts, is just appealing to the same group. Get moving Mel. Get your head out of your ass and start reinventing this thing.
I think Mel is preserving capital. Advertising is expensive. Mel knows this. Of course you have to spend money to make money. But when you need loans you have to make sure that the foundation is strong and the roof isn’t leaking before you worry about landscaping.
More advertising is coming. When it will give the most bang for the buck. Now is not that time, because the retail buyers are preserving capital too.
After the uncertainty of the election is over I think their will a psychological sigh of relief in the country. Hopefully it will last long enough to get the company jumpstarted.
The “comments” section of this site is officially a joke. This place is worse then the yahoo boards everyone here claims to hate.
With every new article there are comments that are longer then the original article itself and often do not fit in my 21inch monitor without scrolling.
Maybe SiriusBuzz can put a limit on the number of characters per comment? This would at least force users to present their comments in a clear well thought out manner rather then the rambling gibberish we now see daily.
I got dissed once for getting off topic related to an article, and the article above is about the election ….
So:
McCain all the way–moderate forward-thinking and honorable ex-POW who deserves respect for SURVIVING 5.5 YEARS of the worst the North Vietnamese Army could put him through.
Obama no way–liberal with less time in the Senate than McCain had as a prisoner of war.
Obama associates with and attracts the lunatic fringe left and (most alarmingly) the far left in our society. Foreign powers that are sworn enemies desire to see Obama elected to further weaken our nation and country.
Fact, not an attempt to instill fear: Obama’s massive marketing campaign brainwashes the weak and plays into enemy hands.
I have never met John McCain but would be honored to do so because he is among our nations finest.
During my 20-year military service career I got to personally know a number of former POWs including the following three that are in McCain’s league:
*** Nurse 2nd Lt. Hattie Brantlee who was one of the “Angels of Battan.” She suffered through Japanese attrocities on Bataan, on Corregidor Island, and at Santo Thomas “University” in Manila for years. At one point on the Bataan Peninsula before the U.S. and Phillipino defenders (the “Battling Bastards of Bataan”) finally had to surrender and go on the 200-mile “Bataan Death March,” Brantlee came back to her hospital outpost after helping the wounded and dying in the jungle. Upon her return she found that the Japanese had bombed the hospital (used Red Cross symbols on top of tents as targets). She told me about “one sweet boy from the Midwest that had all four limbs blown off.” She said to me, “He said, what’s a sweet girl like you doing in a place like this. You shouldn’t be undergoing these hardships. Can you imagine? He said that to me?” More than 40 years after the end of World War II in the Pacific she received the then new POW Medal at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
*** Army Master Sergeant Martin Frank, captured after his patrolling unit was ambushed in the far north of South Vietnam. Held at the infamous Hanoi Hilton where he, too, was tortured and suffered deprivations for years. He remembers the NVA taking him through the DM–from South Vietnam to North Vietnam. He said that was when he was most afraid because U.S. warplanes bombed the DMZ daily. “The DMZ looked like the Moon because of all the craters,” he said.
*** Army War Photographer Angelo Spinelli, captured at Faid Pass during the scorching Northwest Africa Campaign in the Sahara Desert. He was transported like livestock from Africa to Italy to Nazi Germany, and was transferred through several brutal stalags. Secretly for years and at the daily risk of his life, Spinelli photographed conditons inside the stalags. (See “Secret Camera of Angelo Spinelli” in the Congressional Record.) He watched as another U.S. POW tossed a cigarette over into an adjacent Russian POW compound, and snapped a picture just as a Russian got his head blown off for picking up the smoke.
Brantlee, Frank, Spinelli, McCain and other former POWs are among our nation’s most revered heros because they served with honor and distinction through terrible ordeals and never gave in. They endured conditions that only a rare few of us can even comprehend.
In a great way the President of the United States gets elected based on stength of character. I trust McCain and know that he is by great measure the best candidate to lead during these troubled times.
Long McCain. Short Obama.
Solomi, “change the channel” if you like. Nobody forces you to follow threads on SiriusBuzz.
Friggen….
I have not stated that it would be good. was pointing out aspects of it that can be good. There is a distinct difference.
I feel that if it gets to a point where there is a danger of going to the pink sheets that there is no choice in the matter. I would rather see a reverse split than land on the pink sheets. There is about 8 months before that transpires right now.
My opinion has been very clear. We need to, AT A MINIMUM, see what Q3 and Q4 look like prior to going down a path of support or being against a reverse split.
As long as this equity is under $1.00, the reverse split has to be on the table. If it gets to a point where it is needed, there are deeper troubles investors will want to wortty about.
The problem at hand is that investors are being asked to make their decision on December 18th, and we will not know Q4 numbers yet. Thus it boils down to a question of faith in management, which at this time can be chanllenged.
If a reverse split become a foregone conclusion, I would rather get it done sooner than later.
To be clear, I am not a fan of reverse splits, and encourage people to be fully aware when they are looking at SIRI.
Be that as it may Tyler, I just don’t get a sense from you about how dire it’d be for CURRENT shareholders this reverse split. You NEVER once broached the subject of how shorts would literally WIPE out longs after a reverse split. I don’t know if it’s because you are in denial or truly feel that a reverse split wouldn’t attract shorts like flies.
I think you’re mad cool. I’m not trashing you. It’s just as a long…to ME a RS is the DEATH NELL and more of a threat to longs than BK or the PINK SHEETS.
Like you say, the threat of a RS has been delayed and is 8 months away. SO where is the rallying against the RS??
The vote is only a MONTH and a HALF AWAY for crying out loud.
I’m just REALLY concerned about this thats all….as I think all longs should be.
I guess I just don’t sense the urgency. Knowing all we know as shareholders and WHAT happened with the merger delay. If we had a crystal ball and could have SEEN what was going to happen…we ALL would have sold last year.
SO…when I hear they are considering a 1 for 50 Reverse Split…THAT is LIKE having a DAMN CRYSTAL BALL in my opinion.
We ALL lived thru the shorts COMPLETE annihilation of this stock. We ALL KNOW that they are SALIVATING at the chance for another go…especially before Sirius reports forth quarter earnings or has a chance to refinance the debt.
If this vote goes thru on December 18th….it’ll be a Friggin FEEDING FRENZY. Longs will not only lose 50 times their ORIGINAL shares….their remaining shares will be RIPPED to FRIGGIN PIECES.
Don’t you see that Tyler? I know you aren’t a financial advisor….but don’t you have a responsibility to warn people about this VERY REAL possibility?
Other than that….keep up the great work. 🙂
Salomi,
There is prose for those that choose
And be hosed to those that bemuse
I usually try to avoid the topic of politics or religion in mixed company. Always a combustible topic.
I think the passions of our political views got all mixed up with out frustrations about Sirius….
and Wah-lah!
At least the cartoon wasn’t portraying Muhammed and that this isn’t a Muslim extremist board! Lol.
Then we’d be in some SERIOUS trouble. 🙂
Cheers,
8 more days my friends. 8 more days and we find out some more news.
PM – would you consider that Bush was elected based on your statement that, “the President of the United States gets elected based on stength of character.”
Who judges another person and their “strength of character”?
Someone that calls his wife a c@nt? Someone that has flip flopped on almost everything he recently stood for? Someone who wrecked 3 US planes in the service and a fourth almost being lost due to his admitted “daredevil manuevers” and didn’t get demoted because his father was an admiral in the Navy?
We could go on and on about Obama as well but to say that McCain has better character than Obama is reaching.
Lest you forget McCains beautiful rendition of the Beach Boy’s “Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran”….er….I mean “Barbara Ann”.
Doh!
Theres really no discussion. Obama will be president. Now all you McSame supporters back to your moonshine stills
Funny stuff!!
No one “knows” who will be the best president. People can only give opinions. But we will eventually find out if the person that is elected is a good president.
One thing is for certain, whoever is in there will have one of the most difficult presidential terms relating to the economy in 75+ years. The piper is going to get paid one way or another no matter who is sitting in the oval office.
ALL THIS BULL TALK ON HERE AND YAHOO MESSAGE BOARDS,NEVER FORGET THE BEST RADIO EVER SINCE 1-9-06 THE REAL BLACK FIST!

michael – keep pumping it. We need all the help we can muster at this point.
Obamabooey
friggin….
Shorts will control an equity that is surrounded by uncertainty. If Sirius XM is going to do a reverse split, it will be because they are in danger of being delisted…. which will mean July or August of 2009.
By that time we will have Q3, Q4, Q1 and Q2 under our belts, with plenty of data to see where this company is headed. If at that point in time shorts are still in control of this equity, then there is far more to worry about than the reverse split.
Shorts took advantage of SIRI and XM during the merger process because they could. The companies were virtually defenseless. Shorts remain strong because there is no real data out there for people to measure, and the economy is in the toilet. Someone can have just as strong an argument that SIRI will fail, as they can for why it can succeed. That creates uncertainty, and uncertainty breeds pessimism.
I would rather see a reverse split than the company being taken private. The big issue is that people need to prepare for the reverse split to happen. They need to develop their investment strategy now, by using as much information as they can get their hands on.
