HERO
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, this time of year is a time to reflect. Sirius Buzz readers come to this site to seek out commentary on satellite radio, the merger, and some lighter news about the talent and content available on satellite radio. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in the happenings of the sector that we lose focus on the most basic items in our lives.
A good friend and reader sent along a link that I felt was very compelling. During this holiday time, a wake up call is sometimes necessary. While some may not appreciate this piece, and I can respect that, others may see something compelling that may in fact change someones day. This nation affords us the opportunity to live lives that can sometimes be the envy of the world. We have freedoms that people only dream of. Yes, not everyone lives a perfect life. There are people in our nation that are going to bed hungry today. As sad as that is, they can be thankful that they are not starving. Their is a distinct chasm between being hungry and starving. Perspective can be a powerful thing.
It is this time of year that I find myself looking at those that make sacrifice and do so without the thanks they deserve. A humble soldier, sailor, or marine that fights to protect our freedom. A fireman or police officer, who take great risk to protect our way of life. A mother or father who works an extra job so that their children can have a better life. All of these people are hero’s. All of these people deserve at least a simple thank you.
Artist Michael Isreal is an incredible talent. Take a few minutes to watch this video, and make sure you have your sound on. Hopefully this video compels you to at least take a moment to say thank you to a hero. Be it a public servant, a member of the military, a spouse, or a parent, let them know how much they mean to you.
Father was at Normandy, one brother went to viet nam, another in the navy for 8 years.
God Bless America.
Thanks…nice to have a mix of what’s really important.
excellent piece.
I could have painted that in half the time and I could have done it without looking like a jackass.
Joe dont be a jackass.
That was amazing. Tyler, you hit the nail on the head. Sometimes we loose site of what is really important in life. Great way to bring us (or at least some of us) back down to earth. Just like the last line of the song, that really took my breath away. (That didnt sound gay did it?)
Hey, I never said I didn’t like the message in the post I was simply saying that I could paint that. I could even jump around and act wacky for the same dramatic effect 🙂
How does something “sound gay” and is sounding gay a bad thing? What are you trying to say Newman?
