ACH has extra restrictions besides the clearing. There is like a several day "holding" period even after they get your money if you want to buy stocks under a certain dollar amount. They will let you buy a higher dollar stock several days before that. Have them look up the exact policy, because most brokers will give you the wrong information about this. You can get your money in the same day with a wire transfer from your bank without any restrictions from what I remember. Ask to make sure of Scottrade's policies on this...

Markets rebounding off the lows and flirting with green.....

SIRI bounced off of .25 and now is trading at .27 and trying for .28....

I think SIRI could actually close green today....

I can't believe that those bastards got this thing to close at .25 and hammered it into the close yet again....

This stock is obviously being manipulated.....

    Isn't this illegal?

How do they get away with this?

SIRI closed @ .25 on volume of 100,153,195 shares traded.

Can SIRIUS Avoid OTC or Pink Sheets? (SIRI)

This is a bear market and a recession, yet it still feels like Winston Churchill calling the actions of Russia as "a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma." When you look at SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) this becomes only too evident. We rarely cover penny stocks, but SIRIUS has only over the last month become a penny stock. Today is even worse. Shares touched $0.25 right after 2:00 PM EST today.

What is amazing here is that the company keeps getting hit for the same reason, over and over, day in and day out. Let's see... slowing autos perpetually, a weak consumer, high debt loads, inability of companies to tap the capital markets, media, a recession, and more. About the only thing that you can't attribute to the SIRIUS issue is rapidly slowing trends in the "BRIC" economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China.

The shares are currently trading down at $0.26, a drop of 17%. If today's drop holds, then SIRIUS will have closed down 13 of the 17 trading days we have had so far in October.

Frankly, it is hard to imagine what you can do or say here. Imagine how bad it would be to be Mel Karmazin right now. What can he really do? He borrowed and refinanced all he could at rates that seemed very high, but in hindsight the rates were dirt cheap after you compare what rates solid companies have paid recently. He can announce a reverse stock split, but then traders will just take the opportunity to be able to short more stock.

What is the worst thing here is that because of the stock price, Mel Karmazin has to be glad that the NASDAQ has suspended its policy of ejecting companies off of the NASDAQ merely for the 30-day rule of trading under $1.00. Stock exchanges do at some point have to normalize their rules and that cannot last indefinitely.

It looks like the rule exception will go through mid-January. But that being said, what can companies do to save their stocks? Ultimately there are many such stocks which could face the same issues. We have seen this before after the "dot.com bubble" in 2000 and 2001. But for many stocks this is only a one-way trip.
