I noticed that there are new XM programming packages available on the XM site. They are offering a "mostly music" and "talk and sport" packages for $9.99 a month - no special radio required. These packages do not include Howard Stern or internet streaming. They also offer a family package that takes out the adult channels for like $1 a month less. I guess all XM radios are already "a la carte" or maybe not, because you can't pick your specific channels like with the new Sirius Starmate 5.

Why doesn't XM offer a lifetime plan like Sirius does? I thought they were trying to raise some short term cash flow?
