Today at a North Carolina rally where his blindly loyal supporters did not wear masks and did not adhere to social distancing guidelines, Donald Trump said we're "doing fine" (which is a lie) and claimed that 85% of mask wearers get the COVID-19 virus (which is also a lie). As COVID-19 deaths in the US top 217,000 and the number of cases is approaching eight million, the CDC is warning of "ominous" signs that a second wave of the coronavirus is hitting and could lead to 23,000 more deaths by the end of election week.

Twitter raps Trump COVID-19 adviser as US cases rise
    Reuters, Oct 18 2020 11:35 AM

Twitter today removed a "misleading" tweet downplaying the efficacy of masks posted by a top coronavirus adviser to President Donald Trump, while US cases surged before the November 3 election. As the Trump administration fends off accusations that its mixed messaging on wearing masks hampered the fight against the coronavirus, Dr. Scott Atlas continued to minimize the importance of masks with a Twitter post on Saturday, saying, "Masks work? NO." Twitter removed the tweet, saying it violated its misleading information policy on COVID-19, which targets statements that have been confirmed to be false or misleading by subject-matter experts.

Donald Trump is not only continuing to play doctor, he is becoming increasingly deranged, demented, delusional and dangerous.

Donald Trump continues to insist the United States is "rounding the corner" on the COVID-19 pandemic. Maybe in Trumpworld – but not in the real world. The death toll is now 229,016 in the US and 1,147.175 worldwide.

Donald Trump has made – and broken – hundreds of promises. Here is another one to add to the list.

Trump promises pandemic will end soon after Biden blasts his handling of crisis
    Reuters, Oct 23 2020 5:25 PM

President Donald Trump today promised supporters at a rally in Florida that the coronavirus pandemic would end soon and accused Democratic rival Joe Biden of overstating the health crisis to scare Americans into voting for him. Biden earlier in the day said Trump had given up on containing the virus. "We're going to quickly end this pandemic," Trump, who has played down the threat since it started, said in The Villages, a sprawling retirement community in central Florida. "Normal life will fully resume."

Donald Trump, who continues to play doctor – and continues to play with Americans' lives – insists we will "quickly end this pandemic." Really, Donald? If you have the power to quickly end the pandemic, then why didn't you end it seven months ago?

Doctor Trump says we will "quickly end" the COVID-19 pandemic. He seems to be the only person in Trumpworld who believes that.

The lies just keep on coming. Doctor Trump insists we've "turned the corner" on the COVID-19 pandemic and he continues to say he has a "great" healthcare plan to replace the Affordable Care Act. Yeah, yeah. We're still waiting.

Fact check: Trump makes at least 16 false or misleading claims to 60 Minutes
    CNN, Oct 25 2020 10:06 PM ET

President Donald Trump continued his dishonesty blitz in an interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes. An edited version of the interview aired tonight on CBS. Trump released the full 38-minute interview on Facebook on Thursday, pre-empting the network because he said he was unhappy with Stahl's questioning. Despite Stahl's persistent efforts to challenge him, Trump made false or misleading claims about several topics on which he has been frequently deceptive in recent months – most notably the coronavirus pandemic. We counted at least 16 false or misleading claims in the extended footage Trump posted, 10 of them pandemic-related.

Worldwide, there have been 44,148,034 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,169,695 deaths. Donald Trump is one of the 32,352,748 who had COVID-19 and have recovered – but do you think getting infected humbled him in any way? Of course not! He keeps getting more deranged, more delusional, more dictatorial and more dangerous.

Analysis: The absolutely bonkers threat Donald Trump made today
    CNN, Oct 27 20920 2:22 PM ET

Today at a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, President Donald Trump said something incredible, even by his standards. Recounting how his campaign had to move the site of the rally to comply with Democratic Governor Tom Wolf's COVID-19 protocols, Trump said this: "I'll remember it, Tom. I'm gonna remember it, Tom. 'Hello, Mr. President, this is Governor Wolf. I need help, I need help.' You know what? These people are bad."

Let's be very clear what Trump is doing here: He is threatening to withhold federal aid – or some sort of other assistance – the next time Pennsylvania needs it because the state's Governor, according to the President, made it difficult to find a site to hold a campaign rally. Yes, really. Oh, and by the way, a spokeswoman for Wolf's office told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Trump's version of this story is simply wrong – that the Governor's office sent a letter to Trump's campaign earlier in the year requesting that they adhere to social distancing and masks guidelines, but that's it.

Trump's comments show, again, that Trump believes the federal government is essentially a tool that he can use to reward friends and punish political enemies. For Trump, the power of the federal government isn't really about doing the most good for the most people. It's about him. It's his government – to do with as he pleases.
