Rudy Giuliani is one of an ever-growing list of lying, cheating, corrupt, crooked, dishonest, untrustworthy aides and associates of Donald Trump. Yes, the same Donald Trump who claims he surrounds himself with "the very best people." Giuliani is a major source of concern for White House advisers: Is he working for Trump, for his clients or for himself? For himself would be my guess. And what the heck was he doing in Ukraine last week?

Shroyer, a typical, alt-right, conspiracy-theory-spreading nutjob and a blindly loyal member of the Cult of Donald Trump, proclaimed Trump "innocent" and accused Democrats of "treason." Shroyer, same as Trump, has obviously never read the Constitution.

While Democrats are busy upholding the Constitution, the rule of law and our nation's system of checks and balances, the blindly loyal Republican members of the Cult of Donald Trump are busy lying, distorting, distracting, disparaging, making false claims and spreading debunked conspiracy theories. The one thing they are not doing is disputing the quid-pro-quo offer in the July 25 Trump-Zelensky phone call. They know they can't dispute it. It's in the transcript.

    Republicans scramble to thwart impeachment
From trying to discredit the Democratic lawyer with an old tweet to falsely claiming Democrats accused Trump of treason, the GOP tries to chip away at the inquiry.

Donald Trump defends himself by lying, distorting, distracting, attacking Democrats, attacking the impeachment process and spreading debunked conspiracy theories – and those are not the normal tactics of someone who is innocent.

Letter from Ted Carmely of Sherman Oaks in today's Los Angeles Times:

"Trump will be impeached by the House but the Republican-controlled Senate will acquit him. This prompts us to consider the 2020 election. How can any honest person vote for someone who cannot stop lying? How can any woman vote for a man with a history of debasing women? How can any fiscal conservative vote for someone who fights tooth and nail to hide his taxes and has overseen our national debt ballooning to $21 trillion? How can any scientist vote for someone who repudiates everything we know about pollution and global warming? How can any veteran or active soldier vote for a man who avoided service during the Vietnam War? How can any patriotic American vote for a leader who has invited a foreign power to intervene in our election and attacks public servants who protect our national security?"

I would add: How can Republicans continue to be blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump and continue to support and defend the President who commits all the above offenses? Trump is a total disgrace to the office of the Presidency.

Today's House resolution containing the articles of impeachment begins, "Resolved, That Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate." Trump's abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are then thoroughly documented. The resolution concludes that Trump "has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to the Constitution if allowed to remain in office and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. President Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States." CNN's Zachary Wolf and Curt Merrill offer an in-depth analysis of the resolution:

Emperor Trump's abuse of power and obstruction of Congress were well-known long before the impeachment process began. Even though Trump's "high crimes and misdemeanors" are clearly spelled out in today's articles of impeachment, the orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief continues to insist he's done "nothing wrong" and continues to denounce impeachment as "madness," a "scam" and a "witch hunt." Likewise, Congressional Republicans continue to ignore the facts, the evidence, the Constitution, the rule of law and the Presidential oath of office and continue to defend Trump. CNN contributor Jeffrey Toobin is correct: The Republican party now exists in name only. It has become the Donald Trump party. Three hundred twenty-eight days till Election Day.

Tonight at a rally in Hershey, Pennyslvania, Trump told his blindly loyal supporters that abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are not even crimes – and of course his blindly loyal supporters believe every lie he tells them. They are devoted members of the Cult of Donald Trump. He is the false god they worship. How sad.

If you think Trump is angry and upset now, wait till he finds out 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg is Time magazine's Person of the Year. He rejects thousands of scientific studies and believes climate change is a "hoax," you know.

Trump publicly minimizes impeachment while he stews privately
The prospect of becoming one of only a few Presidents to face a formal impeachment weighs heavily on Trump.

House Democrats are upholding the Constitution and the rule of law and are using the Constitutional process of impeachment against a President who is guilty of abuse of power, obstruction of Congress, obstruction of justice, witness intimidation and the seeking of foreign interference in the 2020 election. House Democrats rightfully believe no one is above the law. Emperor Trump, however, believes he is above the law – and every Senate Republican concurs. They put Trump and their party above all else. They worship Donald Trump as a god. By their votes, they will ensure he remains above the law. They have helped Donald Trump turn America into a monarchy. I have no doubt that if Trump, à la Jim Jones, asked them to commit mass suicide by drinking cyanide-laced grape Flavor Aid, they would all do so without hesitation. What a sad, dark time in our nation's history.

Mitch McConnell considering move to acquit Trump
The Senate majority leader is expected to hold a final vote to acquit the President instead of holding a vote on dismissing the articles of impeachment, two GOP Senators say.
