Facing impeachment and knowing he would be removed as President, Richard Nixon resigned in 1974. (He also knew if he were impeached and convicted, he would lose the pension that is given to former Presidents.) Facing impeachment, Emperor Trump could likewise resign as President – but we know he won't. However, that doesn't stop Trump-weary Americans from fantasizing.

In 1993, the Supreme Court ruled in Nixon vs United States that the impeachment process is a political issue and can not be resolved in the courts. That ruling, however, won't stop Emperor Trump from trying to get the Supreme Court to interfere, especially now that pro-Trump Gorsuch and pro-Trump Kavanaugh sit on the bench.

White House stonewalling? Democrats overreaching? Supreme Court justices may be asked to decide.

This court has issued decisions involving Watergate, Iran-Contra, the Clinton impeachment, the Voting Rights Act and other important matters and now may determine whether Emperor Trump can continue to hide his financial records, stonewall House investigations and order witnesses to ignore subpoenas and not testify. I'm hopeful the 11-member Court will say he can't.

Mick Mulvaney told reporters Trump made a quid pro quo offer to Ukraine. Then the news media reported that Mulvaney admitted Trump made a quid pro quo offer to Ukraine. Then Mulvaney declared there was no quid pro quo offer to Ukraine and said the news media "misunderstood" his earlier admission that Trump made a quid pro quo offer to Ukraine. Referring to his statement that Trump made a quid pro quo offer to Ukraine, Mulvaney said, "I didn't say that." This is starting to sound reminiscent of Abbott and Costello's "Who's on first" routine. Appearing today with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, Mulvaney continued to blame reporters for "misunderstanding" his words. Wallace showed the video of Mulvaney's admission. There was nothing to misunderstand.

Emperor Trump blamed "crazed and irrational hostility" from Democrats and the news media – his two favorite targets – for the reversal of his decision to host the G7 summit at his Doral resort. We now know the real reason: self-preservation.

Trunp reversed course on hosting G7 at his Doral club after learning impeachment-weary Republicans were tired of defending him

The Los Angeles Times said Trump's cabinet meeting quickly devolved into "71 minutes of gripes, grievances, defensiveness and bold statements about his expansive view of his own powers." Trump also falsely claimed the whistleblower "gave a false account" of the phone call with Zelensky and has been "discredited."

Article I, Section 8, Paragraph 9 of the Constitution bars public officials from accepting cash or gifts from foreign governments without Congressional approval. Forty-four United States Presidents knew that. The 45th President, however, apparently doesn't even know we have a Constitution.

Trump said the emoluments clause is 'phony.' It's in the United States Constitution.

House impeachment investigators are tracking down new leads on potential witnesses and seeking documents and testimony from officials at the Pentagon, the State Department, the Department of Energy, the White House national security council and the Office of Management & Budget regarding Trump's quid pro quo offer to Ukraine. The big question: "What did they know and when did they know it?" And the noose is tightening.

Democrats see impeachment proceedings taking longer than some initially expected
Some had hoped for a House vote by Thanksgiving but sources say the number of leads for investigators to chase down keeps growing.

At least 20 Senate Republicans would have to align with Democrats in order to remove Donald Trump from office. That ain't gonna happen. Republicans put Trump and their party above the Constitution, the rule of law, our nation's safety and security and our system of checks and balances. They will continue to be deaf, dumb and blind to Trump's abuse of power, obstruction of justice, contempt of Congress and solicitation of election help from foreign countries.

House Democrats zero in on 'abuse of power' in Trump impeachment inquiry
Pelosi is said to favor one sweeping charge related to Ukraine but there's some debate about the need for additional charges.

Informed by an aide that Nancy Pelosi released a "fact sheet," Emperor Trump reportedly said, "'Fact sheet'? I know what 'sheet' means, but what the heck is a 'fact'? I'm not familiar with that word."
