In a 2016 poll, the Los Angeles Times found that 73% of voters who had registered with the American Independent Party mistakenly thought they had registeted as "independent" or "no party preference." A proposal introduced Friday in the California Senate would ban political parties from using "Independent" as part of their name. If the legislation passes, the AIP would have to change its name. If AIP refused, it would lose its state certification. More than one in four California voters are unaffilated with a political party. They outnumber Republicans in the state. If this legislation passes, all AIP voters will be afforded the option to re-register as "no party preference" – which 73% thought they were doing in the first place.

This is what happens when we allow a dishonest, pompous, narcissistic, egotistical, self-serving blowhard with no political experience and the temperament of a spoiled ten-year-old to become President of the United States of America.

Is this Republican Representative admitting his guilt? Of course not. In true Trumpian fashion, he's accusing prosecutors of being "politically motivated." His own wife is testifying against him. She, too, must be "politically motivated," right, Duncan?

This issue is not settled. The Justices want the Commerce Department to provide a better explanation as to why the 2020 census should include a citizenship question. The real reason is that Emperor Trump hates immigrants and hates California and wants to discourage undocumented immigrants from taking part in the census. California's population would thus be undercounted and the state would lose some of its federal funding and might also lose one or two representatives in Congress. A 2015 study concluded that the citizenship question would "help Republicans in redistricting while hurting Hispanic communities and Democrats." Republicans don't care about what is good for our nation. They care only about what is good for Republicans.

CNN political analyst Kevin Liptak, reporting on the G20 summit in Osaka, notes that "Trump's penchant for dictators has always been a pronounced aspect of his foreign policy." Trump, he writes, "sat for talks with men accused of masterminding election fraud and a grisly murder. He worked to strike a trade deal with the President of a nation imprisoning a million religious minorities in remote camps. And he tweeted an optimistic 'meet you there!' message to the despot who's assassinated underlings with anti-aircraft guns." This is scary. Trump idolizes dictators. Is that because he sees himself as a dictator? Many Americans see him that way.

"We want to ask if people are United States citizens. Undocumented immigrants afraid of being deported will refuse to fill out the census form. States with lots of illegals – states such as California, which I hate – could wind up losing a few Congressmen and the Republican party will benefit." Trump obviously couldn't come up with a better reason to add a citizenship question to the census. The courts blocked his effort and now he's given up.

Here is Another Idiotic Tweet from our Capital-Letter-Loving, Anti-Immigrant President: "The News Reports about the Department of Commerce dropping its quest to put the Citizenship Question on the Census is incorrect or, to state it differently, FAKE! We are absolutely moving forward, as we must, because of the importance of the answer to this question." The ACLU responded, "There's nothing fake about the Department of Justice writing us saying printing is starting without the citizenship question."
New U.S. census turmoil as Trump denies dropping citizenship question
President Donald Trump today said his administration had not dropped its efforts to add a contentious citizenship question to the 2020 U.S. census, contradicting statements made by his own officials including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Emperor Trump, same as Mao, Hitler, Stalin and other dictators, expects – and demands – undying loyalty and blind devotion from his subjects. With few exceptions, the blindly loyal Republican rats in Congress place their party above the interests of the United States and faithfully follow the irresistible lure of the orange-skinned Pied Piper. One renegade who has called for Trump to be impeached is leaving the GOP. Emperor Trump is glad to see him leave. Emperor Trump calls him "a total loser" and "one of the dumbest and most disloyal men in Congress" – and for good measure repeated the untrue claim of "No obstruction." And now, Emperor Trump, it's time to treat your loyal subjects to your 4th-of-July, ego-stroking, Russia-style military parade.

Emperor Trump has absolutely no regard for the Constitution of the United States. Congress, not the President, controls federal spending but Trump tried (unsuccessfully) to divert federal funds to his Trump Wall vanity project. Congress, not the President, sets guidelines for the decennial census and Trump is reportedly considering issuing an executive order directing that a citizenship question be added to the census. Once again, he wants to bypass Congress in the hope of getting his way. Why should Emperor Trump care about some silly old 18th-century document anyway?
