Can I use a SirusXM subscription, via Dish Network, on an iPad's SiriusXM app?

Hi folks...subject says it all.

It's actually a friend...who listens to SiriusXM thru his Dish Network TV receiver...he pays an extra $6/month for that.

He's also like to listen on his iPad (he has some trouble getting around the house and would like to be able to listen in another room)...when I try to set up his account in the app, it asks for a "radio I.D."...which, I guess, he doesn't have when subscribed thru Dish? Or is there a sort of "virtual" I.D. listed somewhere?

Any other ideas on how he can listen in other rooms? Is there a subscription he can get thru his iPad? Or does he HAVE to buy an actualy physical radio?

Prior to September 17, 2014, DISH subscribers could listen to SiriusXM channels on Hopper, Sling and other devices with the DISH Anywhere app -- but apparently SiriusXM got greedy and the option was ended. But be not dismayed: your friend can download the free SiriusXM app for iPad at

Is there a monthly fee after the app is downloaded? I have no idea -- but I guess you'll find out. There is also the option of a SiriusXM streaming subscription which is as low as $5 a month:
