Screen says low battery,shutting down while in dock.

Hi there,I have several sxmb2c model boom boxes, found at garage sales etc.,I sold one to a friend who has an earlier type screen,when we plug it into the boom box we get a low battery alert,then it shuts down. New screens work fine in this dock and another old style screen borrowed from another friend also works fine. We have tried two other boom boxes with the bad screen and with the same results,which narrows it down to the screen. The screen in question works fine on his older Sirius radio.Is this something to do with compatibility? Any ideas on how to fix this,or is a newer screen required?
