For those of you who watch Hallmark's mystery movies, I want to assure you that Candace Cameron-Bure will not be stumbling across any dead bodies on this new channel.

Hallmark Channel to present holiday music on exclusive SiriusXM channel

Hallmark Channel and SiriusXM have announced a new 24/7 holiday music channel, Hallmark Channel Radio (Ch. 70), which is scheduled to launch on Thursday, November 1 in conjunction with the network’s highly popular Countdown To Christmas programming event.

SiriusXM's Hallmark Channel Radio will keep listeners in the holiday mood all day and all night with timeless Christmas carols and music introduced by top network talent, including LeAnn Rimes, Holly Robinson Peete, Lacey Chabert, Danica McKellar, Kellie Pickler and more. Hallmark Channel stars will also open up about their personal yuletide traditions, share their own favorite songs from the season and take listeners behind the scenes of their new Countdown To Christmas movies.

Voiced by one of the network’s most beloved stars, Candace Cameron-Bure, Hallmark Channel Radio will launch on Thursday, November 1 and will be accessible through December 29 via satellite on channel 70, through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at SiriusXM.com. Hallmark Channel’s 2018 Countdown To Christmas begins October 26 and will feature an unprecedented 24/7 slate of 22 all-new original holiday movies as well as fan favorites from years past.

What good timing! Tomorrow, eight SiriusXM Christmas channels will launch -- and today, the London Independent shared this bit of news:

Listening to too much Christmas music is bad for your health, according to clinical psychologist
    The Independent, Oct 31 2018

It’s the news that Grinches everywhere have been waiting for: overdosing on festive music is officially bad for your mental health, not least because of the clangy harmonies and insipid lyrics that make Christmas haters want to say "bah humbug" at every smiling passerby in a bobble hat. It turns out that Christmas songs actually stop us from being able to focus on anything other than mince pies and mistletoe.

According to psychologist Linda Blair, listening to Santa Claus Is Coming To Town on repeat could actually have a negative effect on your brain. "People working in the shops at Christmas have to tune out Christmas music because if they don't, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else," she told Sky News. "You're simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you're hearing."

It might not come as a surprise to you that hearing Christmas music on repeat isn't the best thing for one's concentration level or sanity level. However, research shows that striking a good balance between festive smells and music can positively affect the shopping environment, making customers happier. One 2005 study found that when this perfect symmetry between song and scent was achieved, it encouraged people to spend more time in a shop and subsequently boosted sales.

Certain types of music are more effective than others, explains marketing professor Eric Spangenberg, who has studied the effect of holiday music in retail settings. Slow tempos slow shoppers down, he told NBC, meaning that they will stay in shops longer, whereas fast-paced tunes can rush customers through stores much quicker.

Channel 3, Holiday Traditions, just played Mabel Scott's Boogie Woogie Santa Claus, a #12 r&b hit from December 1948. Four months earlier, she reached #6 with Elevator Boogie, which featured Charles Brown on piano. Scott married Brown in 1949. They divorced in 1952. Brown is best known for his number-one r&b hits Trouble Blues (1949) and Black Night (1951) and for his original 1960 recording of Please Come Home For Christmas, which he co-wrote with Gene Redd. (Redd's son, Gene Redd Jr., was Kool & The Gang's manager and producer from 1969 to 1975.) Yeah, I know -- that's an awful lot of trivia to take in all at once. Here is Boogie Woogie Santa Claus:

Holiday Chill Out, which occupies SiriusXM Channel 783 now through December 26, has a bizarre mix of music -- and I mean "mix" in both senses of the word. Some of the songs they're playing, such as To The Sea and the eight-minute-long instrumental I Want You aren't even Christmas songs. Here is what was just played:

SiriusXM Channel 783 - Holiday Chill Out

    Angel Heart - Harrison & Lovell (2016)
Christmas Girl (Christmas Lounge mix) - Lounge Café (2013)
    December - Ariana Grande (2016)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (MNO remix) - Rosemary Clooney (2009)
I Want You (Highland Brothers Inc. remix) - Moti Brothers (2012)
Jingle Bells (Lounge version) - Chris Marx (2014)
Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow - Blue Street Players (2016)
Little Do You Know - Campsite Dream (2017)
O Du Fröhliche (Chill mix)- Christmas Café (2015)
Santa Baby - Harvey Miller Band (2016)
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Jannika Melda (2012)
Silent Night (Chill Out version) - H.G. (2007)
Songs Of The Morning - Late Nite Alumni (2008)
The Nutcracker Suite (Baz Kuts breaks mix) - Berlin Symphony Orchestra (2006)
    To The Sea - Trial & Error/Kate Grimes (2017)
White Christmas (Chill Out version) - E.Bessman (2014)

As adults, we know Santa Claus, elves, flying reindeer, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy are not real. (In truth, aduts have to be Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy.) But six-year-olds see these figures as real and this substitute teacher had no right to shatter their childhood beliefs. Hey, teacher, you're on the Naughty List now and I hope you never get another teaching job!

Run Rudolph Run was written by Johnny Marks and "M, Brodie." Marks also wrote A Holly Jolly Christmas, I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Chuck Berry was the first to record Run Rudolph Run, on November 19, 1958. The identity of "M. Brodie" -- many sources give the name as "Marvin Brodie," "Marvin Brody" or "Marvin Broadie" -- has never been confirmed but most music historians believe the name was a pseudonym of Chuck Berry or someone who worked at Chess Records, Berry's label.

Run Rudolph Run has been recorded by 90 artists -- so far -- including Billy Idol, Emily Osment, Kelly Clarkson, Jimmy Buffett, Keith Richards, Bryan Adams, William Shatner, Cee Lo Green, Hanson, 98°, Train, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Dollyrots. Country Christmas, SiriusXM channel 58, just played Sara Evans' version from her 2014 At Christmas CD. Here it is:

The Country Christmas channel just played Ronnie Milsap's It's Christmas, written by Thomas Cain and Joe Nelson. It was released in December 1983 (RCA 13665) with We're Here To Love on the B-side. (Cain also co-wrote Milsap's When The Hurt Comes Down and several songs for Dion, Kenny Rogers, Delbert McClinton, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Oak Ridge Boys.) It's Christmas was included on the 1986 Christmas With Ronnie Milsap album. Here it is:
