Democrat Stacey Abrams lost her bid to become our nation's first black female Governor. Her Republican opponent, Georgia secretary of state Brian Kemp, had purged hundreds of thousands of names from voter rolls. The majority were Democrats. Kemp also closed dozens of polling places in black neighborhoods to make it more difficult for black Democrats to vote.

Kemp's voter suppression tactics have led many Hollywood stars, including Ron Perlman, Bradley Whitford and Alyssa Milano, to urge the film industry to boycott Georgia. Because of the state's generous tax credits, more movies are being filmed in Georgia than in California -- but Milano says the entertainment industry should not "support the economy of a totally corrupt state that suppresses democracy; where the winner isn't the best choice for the people but the best schemer or crook."

Here's why Stacey Abrams' election loss has Georgia's film workers on edge

"Thirty-nine! We have 39! Do I hear 40? 40? Going once, going twice....."

Democrats win House race in New Mexico, have now gained 39 seats
    CNN, Nov 27 2018 1:46 PM

Democrat Xochitl Torres Small has defeated Republican Yvette Herrell in one of the nation's last outstanding House races, New Mexico's secretary of state certified today. The official result brings the total number of Democratic gains in the House to 39 seats, with one race outstanding. As of midday today, CNN had yet to project a result in California's 21's Congressional District, where Democrat TJ Cox has pulled ahead of Republican Rep. David Valadao.

The last undecided House race has been decided. With all 520 precincts reporting and 100% of the vote counted, Democrat TJ Cox has defeated Republican three-term incumbent David Valadao in California's 21st Congressional District. The margin of victory was 438 votes. Cox's win means Democrats have now gained 40 seats in the House. In California, Democrats seized seven GOP-held House seats and now have 46. Republicans have seven. The Blue Tide keeps flowing.

Wilfred Hyde-Smith went to an all-white private school. She sent her daughter to an all-white private school. She said she would love to go to a "public hanging." She said it should be harder for certain people to vote. She defends the Confederacy. She is a racist and a white nationalist. She is also a Republican. Naturally she was supported by Donald Trump, our nation's number-one racist and white nationalist -- and naturally she just won the runoff election for the Mississippi Senate. Republicans don't care what a candidate says, does, thinks or believes. They will blindly vote for anyone who's a Republican. How pathetic.

This lawsuit argues that "time-tested voter suppression tactics," malfunctioning voting machines, the closing of many polling places and the purging of 600,000 voters from the rolls deprived thousands of Georgians of their right to vote. The Republicans' response will probably be: "We won the election and that's all that matters."

When Democrats lose elections, Republicans like to taunt them: "You lost! Get over it!" But when Republicans lose elections, well, that's different.

Maine Congressman files complaint asking for new election
    CBS News, Nov 28 2018 2:05 PM

Attorneys for Rep. Bruce Poliquin, R-Maine, filed a complaint Tuesday evening asking a federal judge to call for a new election if he does not grant an injunction finding ranked-choice voting unconstitutional. Poliquin narrowly lost to Democrat Jared Golden after ranked-choice ballots were counted on November 15, after US District Judge Lance Walker denied Poliquin's motion for a temporary restraining order to stop the tabulation of ballots.

This was the first Congressional election in the country to be decided by ranked-choice voting. Poliquin and Golden were joined by additional independent candidates Tiffany Bond and Will Hoar in the race. Each voter ranked candidates by preference. No candidate won a majority, meaning that the candidate who received the least first-place votes was eliminated in the vote tabulation and voters who ranked that candidate first had their ballots instantly counted for their second choice. This continued until one candidate, Golden, received enough votes overall to bring him above 50%.

According to a popular adage, "We learn by experience" -- but apparently that can not be said of Republicans in 2018.

Despite big House losses, GOP shows no sign of course correction

Republicans are the perfect example of "sore losers." When they lose to Democrats, they make false accusations of "collusion," "foul play," "voter fraud" and "illegal votes." In Wisconsin, where a Democrat defeated incumbent Governor Scott Walker, Republicans are whining that Governor-elect Tony Evers will bring a "liberal agenda" to the state. They just can't accept the fact that voters elected someone with a "liberal agenda." So.......it's time to fight dirty:

During the midterm elections, Republicans accused Democrats of voter fraud. As it turns out, they accused the wrong party.
