The Democrats should know Trump would never pass up a chance to get together with his товарищ and лучший друг.

Democrats call on Trump to cancel Putin summit after Russian hacking indictments
But as the list of lawmakers making the demand grew Friday afternoon, a senior Trump official said there was a "zero" percent chance the meeting would be scratched.

The indictments handed down today by Robert Mueller contain many disturbing details -- and the most disturbing revelation involves the orange parrot who keeps squawking, "Fake news! Witch hunt! Fake news! Witch hunt! Awwwkkk!" This is from Vox.com:

July 27, 2016: Trump asked Russia to find Hillary Clinton's missing emails. They acted within hours.

Stone exchanged many Twitter messages with Guccifer 2.0, which we now know was an account operated by Russians. Mueller's latest indictments do not include allegations that any Americans assisted the Russian hackers -- but who knows how many more indictments are yet to come?

Trump established a cyber commission -- but not to study Russian election meddling and devise ways to prevent future election meddling. No, he formed the commission to investigate his idiotic claim that the only reason he lost the popular vote in 2016 was because as many as five million illegal votes were cast and every one of them went to Hillary. Not surprisingly, no evidence was found and Trump disbanded the commission. We need a new cybersecurity commission but we won't have one as long as Trump continues to believe Putin's election-meddling denials while ignoring the findings of 17 US intelligence agencies.

Rudy Giulani says Trump won't testify unless Mueller can prove "a factual basis for the investigation." Uh, Rudy? The investigation has gone on for 14 months (so far) and has led to 31 indictments and five guilty pleas (so far). There are your facts. Mueller could subpoena Trump to testify -- and Trump would surely fight the subpoena. Trump also would surely lose the fight.

I don't think any of us really expected Trump to say anything negative about his BFF Vladimir. Trump continues to ignore all the thousands of fake social-media accounts created by Russian trolls and continues to take Putin's word over the findings of the US intelligence agencies. Here is today's winner of the award for Least Surprising News Story:

Trump defends Putin from claims of election interference
    CBS News, Jul 16 2018 1:26 PM

Following a day of discussions between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Trump left today's summit neglecting to hold Putin accountable for Russia's role in interfering in the 2016 presidential election. "I hold both countries responsible. I think that the United States has been foolish. I think that we've all been foolish. We should have had this dialogue a long time ago, a long time, frankly, before I got to office," Trump said during a joint press conference with Putin.

Offered multiple times to denounce Russia's actions, Trump instead placed blame on the FBI and said that he had "confidence" in both parties -- the intelligence community and Russia. "All I can do is ask the question. My people came to me, Dan Coats came to me and some others, they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin, he just said it's not Russia. I will say this, I don't see any reason why it would be," Trump said.

He went so far as to say that Putin's denial of having been involved in the election was "extremely strong and powerful." Putin instead reiterated past claims that the "Russian state" has never and is not going to ever interfere in US internal affairs, including elections.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, citing the findings of the US intelligence community and separate Congressional committee investigations, said in a statement that there's "no question" Russia interfered in the US elections, aadding, "The United States must be focused on holding Russia accountable and putting an end to its vile attacks on democracy." Trump ally Senator Lindsey Graham called the meeting a "missed opportunity to firmly hold Russia accountable for 2016 meddling and deliver a strong warning regarding future elections."

Trump once again defends his товарищ Vladimir and denounces the Mueller investigation as a "disaster" for the United States. Anderson Cooper is speaking out about the "disaster" that is Donald Trump:

CNN's Anderson Cooper slams Trump-Putin press conference as 'one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president' at a summit with a Russian leader

Most Republicans are remaining silent on the Trump-Putin news conference. Most.......but not all. Senator Jeff Flake tweeted, "I never thought I would see the day when our American President would stand on the stage with the Russian President and place blame on the United States for Russian aggression. This is shameful." Former CIA Director John Brennan said Trump's "press conference performance" was "nothing short of treasonous."

Maria Butina was charged today with conspiracy for "acting as an agent of the Russian Federation" for the purpose of advancing Russian interests in the US. Mister President? Do you have any comment? You'll have to check with Putin first? Never mind.

Wow! Trump is being denounced by several hosts and correspondents at Fox News, Trump's favorite channel and the one channel that almost never says anything negative about him. At least Putin still loves him.
