Robert Mueller is a Republican. Rod Rosenstein is a Republican. Three Republican committee chairmen are asking to see the memos written by James Comey. Trump, of course, will continue to insist the investigation is a "witch hunt" perpetrated by Democrats.

GOP House committee chairmen request Comey memos on Trump
    CBS News, Apr 13 2018 6:30 PM

Three Republican House committee chairmen called on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to turn over memos written by fired FBI Director James Comey. In a letter dated Friday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, House Oversight & Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy and House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes asked Rosenstein to turn over unredacted copies of the memos "immediately."

Comey has written a soon-to-be-released book that has more details about his firing and about his meetings with President Trump in the preceding months. The former FBI director wrote nine memos documenting his conversations with President Trump. House Republicans have repeatedly threatened to hold Justice Department officials in contempt as they have sought more than a million pages in documents related to Democrat Hillary Clinton and the beginning of the department's Russia investigation.

Well, well, well -- Donald Trump's number-one cheerleader. We now know the identities of Cohen's three clients: Donald Trump, Sean Hannity and Elliot Broidy (who got a former Playboy model pregnant and hired Cohen to negotiate $1.6 million in payments to her).

Sean Hannity is the client whose identity Michael Cohen wanted kept secret
A federal judge demanded today that the name of Cohen's client be revealed.

The orange parrot continues to squawk "Fake news! Witch hunt! Fake news! Witch hunt! No collusion!" while the web gets more and more tangled:

Michael Cohen met with a Russian oligarch in Trump Tower 11 days before Trump's inauguration
    Business Insider, May 25 2018

Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg met with Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's longtime lawyer, 11 days before Trump's inauguration, The New York Times reported. During the meeting at Trump Tower, Vekselberg and Cohen reportedly discussed how to improve US-Russia relations under Trump.

Andrew Intrater, Vekselberg's cousin who heads the investment firm Columbus Nova, told The Times that Cohen and Vekselberg met three times, including at the inauguration. Shortly after the inauguration, Columbus Nova signed a $1 million consulting contract with Cohen, a deal that's now under the scrutiny of federal investigator. Intrater donated $250,000 to Trump's inaugural committee. Columbus Nova. paid Cohen approximately $500,000 in consulting fees between January and August 2017 and is a subsidiary of Renova Group, a Russian conglomerate founded by Vekselberg.

Following the 2016 Presidential election, Russians bought thousands of Facebook ads to "inflame racial tensions over controversial immigration-related topics." This year's midterm elections are upcoming and I'm sure the Russians will continue their meddling. They're still guided by Nikita Khrushchev's 1956 declaration Мы вас похороним! ("We will bury you!" or "We will outlive you!")

This weekend, millions of Americans are honoring our nation's veterans. The President is not among those millions. He's busy continuing to attack the news media and continuing to spout his "Fake news! Witch hunt!" mantra.

In a series of tweets this morning, Trump attacked the " dishonest news media," the "rigged Russia witch hunt" and "totally crooked Hillary Clinton" and, with no proof or evidence, accused Democrats of "collusion." But wait -- there's more! For a supposedly "innocent" man, Trump certainly spends a lot of time attacking Robert Mueller and Rod Rosenstein -- both of whom are Repubicans, by the way.

History lesson: In October 1973, President Richard Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire special prosecutor Archibald Cox, who was leading the investigation of the break-in of the DNC offices at the Watergate Hotel. Richardson resigned rather than comply. Nixon then ordered Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus to fire Cox. Ruckelshaus resigned rather than comply. Nixon then ordered Solicitor General Robert Bork to Fire Cox. Bork complied but a federal judge ruled that the firing was illegal and an abuse of Presidential power. Rudy Giulani says Trump might fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the findings of the Russia probe are released. Will history repeat itself? Would Sessions' firing be ruled illegal and an abuse of Presidential power? Stay tuned.

Trump says he regrets hiring Jeff Sessions as his anger at attorney general's recusal in Russia inquiry flares again

Rudy Giuliani has caught up to Sean Hannity. They now share the title of Trump's Number-One Cheerleader. Giuliani insists Trump has the power to halt the Mueller investigation and therefore could never be charged with obstruction of justice. He also claims Trump, if convicted of wrongdoing, could pardon himself. Giuliani also insists Trump "has done nothing wrong." If that is so, then why would Trump refuse to testify, huh, Rudy?

As Ray Stevens sang in Everything Is Beautiful, "There is none so blind as he who will not see" -- and that includes Trump, Giuliani and Hannity.

The President continues to insist there has been "no collusion" and the Mueller investigation is "fake news" and a "witch hunt" -- and yet the indictments and guilty pleas and plea bargains just keep on coming. How about that!

And a few more strands have been added to the tangled web. If the NRA used Russian donations to help fund the Trump campaign, several people could soon be taking a nice little trip to prison.
