Seventeen people died in the Valentines Day 2018 school shooting -- and who could have foreseen that there would be another death 13 months later? This is truly heartbreaking.

At the beginning of this thread, I mentioned the massacre that took the lives of 24 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School -- and now we have the third school-shooting-related suicide in less than a week. Will there be more? Let's hope not.

A generation ago, teachers had to contend with students throwing spitballs and running in the halls. Now they have to be prepared to deal with students who bring guns to school and go on a shooting spree. Young people can no longer attend school without fearing for their life. How sad – and how scary.

Immediately after the Parkland school shooting, survivors formed the March For Our Lives movement and have been encouraging young people to register to vote – which they are doing – and urging Congress to take action to reduce gun violence – which it does not do, because Republicans are puppets of the NRA. March For Our Lives has introduced a six-point "peace plan" with the goal of creating a safer America by ending the gun violence epidemic that claims the lives of nearly 40,000 people every year.
