The aforementioned Jeff Bezos and Amazon.com are probably the number-one reason why sales at Barnes & Noble bookstores have been steadily declining. The number-two reason: e-books taking the place of real books printed with real ink on real paper. Barnes & Noble isn't in immediate danger of going out of business like Borders, Crown Books, Encore Books, Bookland, Lauriat's and Waldenbooks did -- but the 629-store chain is seeking a buyer.
