Appearing today on Ari Melber's MSNBC program, Mother Jones Washington bureau chief expressed dismay that the "cult of Trump," i.e., the Republicans, just throw up their hands and say "I don't care." He was referring to Trump's commission of perjury and obstruction. Trump ordered Don McGahn to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. That order meets the legal criterion for obstruction. In testimony yesterday, Mueller said Trump was "generally" not truthful in the written answers submitted in November 2018. Those answers meet the legal criterion for perjury. Corn also noted Trump has told more than 10,000 lies and false statements since becoming President, as documented by the Washington Post. Republicans don't care. Trump and the Republican party come first.

Once Trump leaves office, he can be indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction. Mueller said so – and he emphasized that he did not exonerate Trump.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that even though Robert Mueller found Donald Trump obstructed justice, impeachment proceedings will not begin until Democrats "have the best, strongest possible case." House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said "articles of impeachment are under consideration, although no final determination has been made." Emperor Trump, meanwhile, repeated his false claim of "No obstruction!" and spewed his usual childish insults and name-calling.

Does Emperor Trump intentionally keep nominating people who have committed sexual assault? There have been too many such nominations for them to all be coincidental. Of course Trump has committed many sexual assaults, too. All these abusive "good ol' boys" stick together. Here is another of the "very best people" Trump says he surrounds himself with:

Letter from Barbara Jackson of Cerritos in today's Los Angeles Times:

"I read the Mueller report immediately upon its release. The facts are crystal clear: Under the law, Trump obstructed justice but because of a Department of Justice policy he cannot be held accountable in a court of law while he is President. What a sad state of affairs for our democracy. We are in desperate need of a fix."

And from Bruce Joffe of Piedmont:

"Political pundits on both sIdes are saying Robert Mueller's testimony 'didn't move the needle.' President Trump and his supporters claim victory. But let us ask: victory over what? Mueller didn't indict the President but he was prohibited from doing so. The copious, damning facts that he documented about Trump's lieutenants collaborating with Russia to influence our election, and about Trump's subsequent obstruction of the investigation, are reason enough to initiate impeachment hearings."

Of course Emperor Trump is above the law. He shouldn't be – but he is.

Dan Coats, the Director of National Intelligence who oversees 17 American intelligence agencies, is stepping down as head of the National Inteeligence Agency. Emperor Trump has nominated Texas Republican Representative John Ratcliffe, whom the Los Angeles Times calls a "Trump loyalist," to replace Coats. When making appointments and nominations and filling Cabinet vacancies, Emperor Trump never concerns himself with who will be good for the United States of America. He wants blindly loyal supporter, sycophants, toadies, lackeys and yes-men who will be good for himself. As CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen explains, Trump detests people who dare to tell the truth instead of parroting Trump's lies.

The United States has around 1,000 independent advisory committees made up of scientists, physicists and military experts. Emperor Trump, who does not believe in science – "Coal is good, climate change is a hoax and we don't need clean air and clean water" – wants to eliminate two-thirds of the advisory groups. He has no need of them. He knows what is best for America.

Scaramucci shouldn't be surprised. Republicans put Emperor Truimp, the Republican party and their own political future above all else. They wouldn't dare criticize the Emperor and risk him yelling (or, more likely, tweeting) "Off with their heads!"

Scaramucci says Trump aides are scared to confront him over tweets
    Yahoo News, Aug 2 2019 3:27 PM

Cabinet members and White House staffers are privately concerned about President Trump's racially divisive tweets but are afraid to confront him, said former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci in an interview with Yahoo News. Scaramucci said Trump needs to hear those points of view. "If the President is surrounded by people who are not going to tell him the truth and they're going to confirm his biases, which may not be correct, that's a recipe for disaster,” Scaramucci said. He called Republicans who won't speak out against Trump's tweets "fraidy cats."

Democratic lawmakers have rebuked Trump for tweets telling four Congresswomen of color to "go back" to their countries and describing Baltimore as a vermin-infested city unfit for people to live in. While Democrats forcefully called the statements racist, Republican leaders have largely been silent.

Remember when Trump bragged that he knows "more about ISIS than the generals do"? He was lying. Remember when Trump declared "ISIS is defeated"? He was lying. Trump just left DC for a ten-day vacation at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey. I wonder if he saw this Pentagon report. If so, he will probably lie and say the resurgence of ISIS is the Democrats' fault, certainly not his.

A scathing new Pentagon report blames Trump for the return of ISIS in Syria and Iraq
