MSNBC is reporting that many Republican Senators are opposed to Trump's declaration of a national emergency. Among them are Rubio ("Bad idea"), Collins ("A mistake"), Alexander ("Unnecessary"), Paul ("I'm not really for it") and Grassley ("I wish he wouldn't have done it"). Let's see if they have the courage of their convictions and vote against the declaration in Congress -- or if they wind up caving and putting their party above the Constitution. Meanwhile, another lawsuit:

Another Trump lawyer lied to investigators. A former White House official and current Trump Organization representative lied, too. Is there anyone in Trumpworld who doesn't lie?

The you-know-what is really starting to hit the fan. Or should I say "hit the wall"?

House panel announces emergency declaration probe in letter to Trump
    Reuters, Feb 15 2019

A key committee in the House of Representatives is launching an immediate investigation into President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration, saying his move to fund his promised wall at the US-Mexico border raised Constitutional and statutory issues.

In a letter to Trump, Democrats who control the House Judiciary Committee asked the Republican president to make available for a hearing White House and Justice Department officials involved in the action. They also requested legal documents on the decision that led to the declaration, setting a deadline of next Friday.

"We believe your declaration of an emergency shows a reckless disregard for the separation of powers and your own responsibilities under our constitutional system," said the letter signed by committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler and other top Democrats on the panel.

Nobody -- least of all, Donald Trump -- should be surprised by all the condemnation, protests, lawsuits and legal challenges, but the President's immigrant-hating base will believe he made an effort to get The Trump Wall built. Trump doesn't dare risk losing their support.

Six little words uttered by the President during a news conference in the Rose Garden are likely going to be "Exhibit A" in every lawsuit aganst what Nancy Pelosi refers to as the #FakeTrumpEmergency.

Donald Trump doesn't care about the Constitution of the United States so it is not surprising that he doesn't care about copyright laws. R.E.M. called Trump a "faker" and a "World Leader PRETEND" and another name that I don't want to repeat.

"President Obama was never on the verge of starting any war with North Korea, large or small," said Obama's CIA Director John Brennan yesterday. Our delusional, pompous, narcissistic President, who ignores facts and reality, declared that if he hadn't been elected, we would be at war with North Korea and millions of lives could be lost. 얼마나 바보!

Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN's State Of The Union: "This is the first time a President has tried to declare an emergency when Congress explicitly rejected funding for the particular project the President is advocating." The big question: Will Republicans support the Constitution, its system of checks and balances and the rule of law.....or will they cave and support the President and his declaration of a national emergency where no national emergency exists?

Today, the whiny, thin-skinned, pompous, narcissistic, orange-skinned parrot attacked the news media yet again, squawking that the media are "corrupt," "rigged," "fake news" and "the enemy of the people." What part of the First Amendment does Trump fail to understand? Answer: All of it.

Trump's SNL attack crosses the line
Dean Obeidallah, CNN, Feb 17 2019 5:35 PM ET

On Friday, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency because, as he put it, there's a "national security crisis on our border" marked by "an invasion of our country with drugs, with human traffickers, with all types of criminals and gangs." With that type of calamity bearing down on our nation, you would expect Trump to be laser focused on the threat in the days that followed.

But this weekend, Trump managed to find time to watch NBC's Saturday Night Live, which he notably hosted twice in the past, and then took to Twitter to not just slam the show but to suggest there needs to be "retribution" and that the comedy show should be investigated. It was the latest escalation in his war on free speech.

He tweeted this morning, "Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise for many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real Collusion!" Four minutes later, he tweeted in all caps to tell us how he apparently now views the iconic comedy show as part of those threatening our nation: "THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!" Could Trump be laying the groundwork to declare another national emergency to silence SNL? Aside from the absurdity of the idea, it also violates the First Amendment right to free speech, as the American Civil Liberties Union was quick to point out.

In an essay for NBC News, Danielle Campoamor discusses gun violence, rapes and attempted rapes, hate crimes, climate change and the large number of women who die while giving birth. These, she points out, are real crises -- and crises which Donald Trump chooses to ignore. Trump has even worsened the crises of hate crimes and climate change. Instead, he declares a national emergency where no emergency exists. But, hey, he offered his "heartfelt condolences" to the victims of the Aurora shooting. Now let's get to work on The Trump Wall!

Trump's national emergency at the border is fake. Here are some very real emergencies he should be addressing instead.
As the shooting in Aurora makes painfully clear, there are plenty of real crises facing America right now. Trump just isn't interested in addressing them.
