Emperor Trump falsely declared Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama. CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza examines why Trump is so obsessed with trying to prove himself right – when he's wrong. From redrawing maps to (again!) attacking the news media as "fake," Trump will never admit he was wrong. His galaxy-sized ego won't allow him to.

Donald Trump's Alabama obsession reveals a very deep flaw

Pretty soon there will be only one person left in the Trump administration: Donald Trump. He won't complain, though. After all, he brags that he, and he alone, can "fix" everything.

Our orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief refuses to admit he was wrong in declaring Alabama would be "hit hard" by Hurricane Dorian. Los Angeles Times reporter Chris Megerian says Trump "is trying to bend facts to fit his version of reality, unwilling to stop repeating falsehoods no matter how many times he's corrected." Among Trump's many other false claims: His Inauguration Day crowd was the largest in history, his border wall is "going up very fast," China is paying for his tariffs, Obama was born in Kenya and Obama separated migrant children from their parents. Trump never admits he's wrong or mistaken – about anything. And he continues to squawk his "Fake news!" and "Witch hunt!" mantras. Welcome to Trumpworld, the Land of Delusions.

In the real world, only one early model predicted that only one-tenth of one county in southeast Alabama would be affected by Hurricane Dorian – but in Trumpworld, the Land of Delusions, the vain, pompous, egotistical, narcissistic, orange-skinned buffoon considers himself to be an expert on hurricane paths: "I alone can predict it," he seems to believe. And since Emperor Trump is never wrong, then obviously it is NOAA, the NWS and the "fake news" media that are in error. By decree of Emperor Trump, Dorian was headed for Alabama.

A real President shows concern when states and territories are devastated by a hurricane. He visits affected areas and meets with survivors and rescue workers. He offers emergency assistance and makes FEMA funds available. He pledges to do all he can to combat global warming in the hope of reducing the intensity of future hurricanes. A fake President spends six days expressing outrage that the "fake news" media didn't believe his fake prediction that Hurricane Dorian would devastate Alabama: "I'm the Emperor! I drew the hurricane's path on a map! How dare anyone question me!"

Washington Post: Trump was the one who altered Dorian trajectory map with Sharpie
    CNN, Sep 6 2019 11:11 AM

President Donald Trump was the one who used a black Sharpie marker to alter an official National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration map to include Alabama in Hurricane Dorian's trajectory during an Oval Office presentation earlier this week, The Washington Post reported.

"No one else writes like that on a map with a black Sharpie," a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the Post. Since Sunday, Trump has aggressively defended his false claim that Hurricane Dorian was likely to hit Alabama, even after the National Weather Service stressed that "no impacts from Hurricane Dorian will be felt across Alabama." During an Oval Office briefing on Wednesday, Trump claimed that the marked-up NOAA map was the original forecast, although a similar image released from the White House last week did not include perimeters to show that Alabama would be affected.

A source familiar with the briefing confirmed to CNN the line had been added during the storm briefing Wednesday, before the press entered the Oval Office. Later Wednesday, Trump was asked by a reporter whether the black line over Alabama was made with a permanent marker. "I don't know. I don't know. I don't know," Trump replied. Bloomberg was the first to report that Trump marked up the map with a Sharpie.

Money is the only thing Emperor Trump loves almost as much as he loves himself. After Trump used a Sharpie pen to alter a hurricane map, his campaign started selling Trump-branded markers to make more money for him. Trump's blindly loyal campaign manager also parroted his Master's "fake news" mantra. As for the many thousands of Bahamians who now have no homes, no food and no water, they'll have to look elsewhere for help. Emperor Trump doesn't care about them. He's too busy trying to defend himself and his fake map.

Emperor Trump, same as all the world dictators who have preceded him, viciously and continually attacks the news media, denouncing them as "fake news" and "the enemy of the American people" and calling reporters "nasty" and "dishonest" and revoking the press passes of those who dare to criticize him. In Trumpworld, freedom of speech is a right reserved for Emperor Trump and his blindly loyal supporters. It does not apply to Emperor Trump's critics, women, blacks, Democrats, migrants, Muslims, Hispanics or the news media.

Letter from David Burdick of Ridgecrest in today's Los Angeles Times:

"I called the White House and asked to speak with the chief meteorologist, the guy with the Sharpie pen who draws their weather maps, so I could get that day's forecast. They told me he was on his golf course."

Congress holds "the power of the purse." Congress decides how federal funds will be spent. Congress will not give Emperor Trump money to build the border wall he promised Mexico would pay for. Congress adopted the National Emergencies Act in 1976. Emperor Trump is using – and abusing – the powers granted by that statute. He is bypassing Congress and stealing money from military projects that were already approved, just so he can get started on the unnecessary, expensive, ineffective Trump Wall monument to himself. Thanks to Trump's hateful, bigoted, xenophobic, divisive rhetoric, Trump's blindly loyal supporters hate immigrants as much as he does. He promised them he would build a "big beautiful wall" and he refuses to give up on it. Political columnist Frida Ghitis is outraged that Trump is "hurting the military and their families, harming national security, politicizing the Defense Department and playing games with the Constitution," all for his vanity project.

Business Insider offers a detailed look at the false meteorogical forecasts of the orange-skinned buffoon who has no business being President:

A brief history of how Trump came up with the false claim that Hurricane Dorian could hit Alabama
Trump has spent the last several days doubling down on his claim that Hurricane Dorian could strike parts of Alabama, despite the state no longer being in the hurricane's path at the time he made the claim.

    But wait – there's more!

Trump may have broken federal law by altering Hurricane Dorian's path on a map to validate his false claim that it could hit Alabama
