In an analysis of how Trump's lies, hateful rhetoric and bullying are causing polarization, division and instability, CNN's Nic Robertson writes, "Like any bully, he doesn't pick on people he fears; the one exception in his global tirades is Russia's Vladimir Putin, whom he meets alone and is meek to in public." Why does Trump idolize Putin? Will we ever know?

The whiny, petulant, thin-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief with the mentality of a ten-year-old was in his usual fine form yesterday.

Trump started his Saturday by blasting out more than 60 retweets attacking Mueller, the Russia probe, the FBI, House Democrats and others

Republican Congressmen march in lockstep to support Emperor Trump no matter what he says or does. They're afraid to ever criticize him. Republican lawyers and former Republican prosecutors, however, have no such fear.

Suddenly, conservative lawyers are condemning Trump's abuse of power and denouncing his blanket claims of executive privilege

Emperor Trump, who has never met a dictator he doesn't like – Putin, Kim, Sisi, Duterte and bin Salman among them – has invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to the White House. Orbán is anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim and has "subverted legal checks and balances and has enriched his inner circle." He also erected a double wall topped with razor wire on Hungary's southern border and he was the first European head of state to endorse Trump's candidacy in 2016. Not surprisingly, Emperor Trump praises him. Trump is a traitor to the United States of America.

Hungary's strongman, who echoes Trump's rhetoric, will visit the White House
Los Angeles Times, May 13 2019

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is widely accused of undermining his country's democratic institutions, is scheduled to meet President Trump on Monday, the latest authoritarian leader to get a White House invitation. Although Hungary is a European Union member and a NATO ally, Orbán has become notorious for his attacks on the media, academia, the judiciary and other democratic institutions since he became Prime Minister in 2010.

Orbán's White House visit sparked discontent on Capitol Hill. Representative Eliot Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and 10 other House Democrats called for the White House to cancel the planned meeting. In the Senate, senior Republicans and Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee urged Trump in a letter to express concern to Orban about Hungary's "downward democratic trajectory."

The Kremlin sees "lots of opportunities" for influencing institutions in Hungary, especially in finance, energy and law enforcement, said Hal Brands of the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington. Hungary recently has allowed Russia's International Investment Bank to open in Budapest even though its director has known ties to Russian intelligence.

"Orbán is really at the front of an autocratic revival in Europe and NATO," said Brands, and sees Trump "as an ideological fellow traveler." Orbán's supporters will see his White House meeting "as an endorsement" by Trump, said James Kirchick, a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Twelve billion dollars has been earmarked to assist American farmers who are suffering as a result of Trump's childish trade war. Trump, who calls himself a "great deal-maker" and a "great negotiator," now wants an additional $15 billion to help American farmers – and he's threatening to impose 25% tariffs on another 325 billion dollars' worth of Chinese goods. Trump's trade war is benefitting no one.

Our delusional President today called his childish, costly trade war with China "a little squabble." Uh-huh. Meanwhile, his oldest son will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Will the son of the world's biggest liar be truthful? Very unlikely. Like father, like son.

As all dictators do, Emperor Trump seeks to punish his rivals and his enemies while rewarding his blindly loyal supporters. Mail fraud? Embezzlement? Obstruction of justice? "No problem; I pardon you," declares Emperor Trump.

Has anyone noticed Emperor Trump no longer says much about his plans to build a "big beautiful wall" and "have Mexico pay for it"?

Trump's diversion of billions for border wall tested in court
    Newsmax, May 17 2019 2:34 PM

President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration to divert more than $6 billion to build a wall on the border with Mexico faced its first court test today, as a lawyer for the House of Representatives said Congress never approved the funding. The hearing opened with Douglas Letter, on behalf of the House, telling US District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam in Oakland that Trump does not have authority to use the money for a border wall. "As everyone knows, the executive branch cannot build this wall without Congress," Letter said. "The President asked for $8.1 billion to build the wall and Congress said no to that. This money was clearly denied by Congress."

In February, Congress approved $1.37 billion for construction of "primary pedestrian fencing" along the border in southeast Texas, well short of Trump's demand for $5.7 billion to build border walls in Arizona and New Mexico as well as Texas. To obtain the additional money, Trump declared a national emergency and diverted $601 million from a Treasury forfeiture fund, $3.6 billion from military construction and $2.5 billion earmarked for Department of Defense counternarcotics programs.

The plaintiffs in today's hearing include 20 states, the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition, which advocates for immigrants. They argued in court papers that the administration has violated the separation of power principle of the US Constitution, among other claims.

Asking Donald Trump to care about somebody besides himself? Yeah, good luck with that!

Florida Mayor: Trump hotels should take in migrants
    CNN, May 17 2019 7:28 PM

A possible government plan to send migrants who are in federal custody to South Florida sparked concern from local officials this week and Broward County Mayor Mark Bogen offered a proposal of his own: "Bring them to the Trump hotels and ask the President to open his heart and home as well." Bogen said he and other local officials learned this week from US Customs & Border Protection of a plan to release hundreds of migrants weekly into the area. "This is a humanitarian crisis. We will do everything possible to help these people," Bogen said. "If the President will not provide us with financial assistance to house and feed these people, he will be creating a homeless encampment."

Neighboring Palm Beach County, home to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, also received a similar notification from CBP. The agency had recently informed the county of a plan to transport 135 migrants from El Paso to Broward and Palm Beach counties twice a week. "The President wants to send his problems to Palm Beach County. And that's not fair," Palm Beach County Mayor Mack Bernard told CNN today.
