Supposedly Dravis wants to work "in the private sector" and her resignation is not connected to the ethics violations committed by EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, who gave big raises to his aides, wasted taxpayer money on expensive plane flights and paid only $50 a night for a condo co-owned by a lobbyist for energy companies. Pruitt then approved a big pipeline project for one of those companies. Whatever happened to the "swamp draining"?

If Presidents were elected by popular vote -- the way mayors, governors, senators, representatives, school board members and all other officials are elected -- Donald Trump would not be President. He still refuses to accept that he lost the popular vote. Sad.

President Trump just can’t seem to give up on an idea that he may have actually won the popular vote in 2016, despite the fact that his assertion has been shown to be false. "In many places, like California, the same person votes many times," said Trump during an event in West Virginia Thursday afternoon. "You’ve probably heard about that. They always like to say, 'Oh, that’s a conspiracy theory.' It’s not a conspiracy theory, folks. Millions and millions of people."
In fact, the claim is a conspiracy theory. Since he lost the popular vote in the November 2016 election, Trump has claimed that millions of people voted illegally to try to explain why Hillary Clinton received nearly three million more votes than him. There is no evidence historically to support Trump’s assertion and multiple studies have found little evidence of voter fraud, much less millions of votes. A comprehensive 2014 report examining years of elections turned up 31 instances of credible fraud out of one billion votes cast.

Former FBI director James Comey compared President Trump to a mob boss in a new ABC News interview that is set to air this weekend. Comey, fired by Trump last May, has largely remained quiet about the President and his administration over the past 11 months but it appears that’s about to change. The interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, airing at 10 PM Sunday as part of a 20/20 special, is "going to shock the president and his team," a source said.
The interview will be followed by appearances on The View, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News in the coming week as Comey promotes his new book A Higher Loyalty, which comes out on Tuesday. Comey’s dismissal paved the way for the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is now overseeing the federal investigation into Russian election meddling and probing whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin to sway the contest in Trump’s favor.

Congressional retirements can indicate which way the political winds are blowing. With House Speaker Paul Ryan's announcement today that he will not seek re-election in 2018, 24 Republican retirements have been announced thus far this cycle in the House, the most in one congressional cycle dating back to 1973, according to "casualty lists" compiled by the Congressional reporting outlet Roll Call.
Ryan's announcement may signal more difficulties ahead for Republicans, who are hoping to hold on to their majority in the US House in what is already expected to be a difficult midterm environment. Florida Representative Dennis Ross also announced today that he is not seeking re-election to his seat. Represntatives Trent Franks, Pat Tiberi, Tim Murphy, Blake Farenthold and Jason Chaffetz also left politics this cycle, resigning their seats for various reasons. Democrats hope this high number and polls showing enthusiasm among their voters means a wave election will come their way in November.

Former Playboy model Karen McDougal has reached a settlement of the lawsuit she filed to break the confidentiality agreement that barred her from speaking publicly about her alleged affair with Donald Trump. American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer, has agreed to release McDougal from the agreement.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, the company paid McDougal $150,000 for, among other things, exclusive rights to the story of what she described as a 10-month romance that started in 2006 with the married Trump. American Media, led by Trump’s close friend David Packer, never published her story. McDougal said her settlement with AMI "restores to me the rights to my life story and frees me from this contract that I was misled into signing nearly two years ago." The settlement allows American Media to collect up to $75,000 from any money McDougal makes within the next year for her story about the alleged relationship with Trump.
