Dorothy Malone once said, "I was the first movie star to plunge into night-time soap opera. Everybody said Peyton Place would be a mistake." It wasn't. Based on a 1956 novel and preceded by a 1967 movie, Peyton Place aired in prime time on ABC from 1964 to 1969.

Let Petty's death serve as a warning to others: Taking fentanyl and oxycodone and temazepam and alprazolam and citalopram and acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl may not be the wisest thing to do.

Tom Petty died from accidental drug overdose, coroner says
The New York Times, Jan 19 2018

Tom Petty, the chart-topping singer and songwriter, died in October from an accidental drug overdose as a result of mixing medications that included opioids, the medical examiner-coroner for Los Angeles County announced today, ending the mystery surrounding his sudden death last year. The coroner, Jonathan Lucas, said Petty’s system showed traces of the drugs fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl.

In a statement posted to Petty’s Facebook page today, his wife Dana and daughter Adria said, "We knew before the report was shared with us that he was prescribed various pain medications for a multitude of issues and we feel confident that this was, as the coroner found, an unfortunate accident."
