    She played a manicurist and Lou Costello's girlfriend in Abbott & Costello In Hollywood, a hilarious film involving an embezzler and the Keystone Cops. It ended with Costello opening a money-filled briefcase -- while standing in front of the spinning propeller of a small plane. Abbott, Costello and the Cops frantically ran after the money as it blew away.

    Phillip Doddridge's hymn O Happy Day That Fixed My Choice was published in 1755, four years after his death. In 1854, Edward Rimbault added a chorus and wrote a new melody. In 1967, the Edwin Hawkins Singers recorded the song. It became a #4 hit in 1969. And today.......

    Jazz vocalist Marlene VerPlanck died January 14 at age 84. She sang with Charlie Spivak and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, released 24 solo albums and recorded an "M'm M'm good" commercial for Campbell's Soup.
