    She also appeared in the 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy and had regular roles on four different soap operas. (Yes, I know -- the daytime dramas haven't been sponsored by soap companies for 50 years. We still call them "soap operas," though, just like we still call movie previews "trailers" and we still say we "dial" a telephone number.)

    Murphy played with Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Parker, Memphis Slim, Bobby "Blue" Bland, James Cotton and, of course, Jake & Elmore Blues, even though Mrs. Murphy didn't want him to go on the road with his "white hoodlum friends."
