In the 2016 Presidential election, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by almost 2.9 million votes -- and, for the fifth time in US history, the loser became President, proving that when it comes to the election of the President of the United States, the majority does not always rule and their votes do not always matter. Hillary might have won the 2020 election by an even larger margin. We will never know.

Team Clinton says there's no way Hillary is running again

Of all who cast ballots in the 2018 midterm elections, 59% of women, 67% of 18-to-29-year-olds and 58% of 30-to-44-year-olds voted for Democrats. As this NBC News editorial points out, the party of old wealthy white men is fading fast.

Trump celebrated the midterm results but without millennials and women he could be headed for disaster in 2020
Americans delivered an unmistakable message of disapproval to both Trump and the GOP. Will Republicans listen?

Beto O'Rourke raised $60 milion in donations, more than any Senate candidate in history, and he lost to Ted Cruz by only 3 percentage points in a state that hasn't elected a Democratic Senator since Lloyd Bentsen in 1970. And now.......

Calls for Beto O'Rourke to run in 2020 multiply among Democrats

The number of Democrats vying for the Presidential nomination in 2020 could top the record-setting number (17) who sought the nomination in 2016. CBS News today looks at some of the possibilities. Among them are Biden, O'Rourke, Sanders, Warren, Gillibrand, Holder, Hickenlooper and Klobuchar and McCauliffe. Hillary is not on the list but Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is. He may as well run -- he's hardly ever in Los Angeles anyway.

One of these Democrats could be the next President

CNN political analysts Chris Cillizza and Harry Enten seem to feel Kamala Harris should be -- and will be -- the 2020 Democratic nominee for President. I should let the Democrats know so they don't waste any time and money on a nominating convention.

Why Kamala Harris is the new Democratic frontrunner
    CNN, Nov 12 2018 9:23 PM ET

If there's one lesson Democrats should learn from the 2018 election, it's this: Their base wants to make history. Democratic voters helped elect a historic number of women to Congress. They elected the first Muslim-American women -- one in Minnesota and another in Michigan. They voted in the first Native-American women -- in New Mexico and Kansas. Everywhere you looked on the map last Tuesday night, Democratic voters were backing women -- and oftentimes women of color.

Which brings us to the 2020 Democratic presidential race. And specifically to California Senator Kamala Harris. She is in her first term as a senator from the country's largest state. When she won in 2016, she made history as the first African-American woman and the first Indian-American woman to represent California in the Senate. The 2018 election convinced us that Harris seems to be exactly what Democratic voters are telling the party and its politicians they want representing them going forward. A young-ish -- she's 54 -- non-white woman, Harris looks like the Democratic Party base these days. And if 2020 is anything like 2018, that's a very good place for her to be.

Trump recently called Ojeda "a total wacko" and "stone-cold crazy." Or was it Ojeda who said those things about Trump? No, no, I had it right the first time.

Flake says a Republican who is "conservative" and "decent" should run in 2020 but he doesn't feel he is the right person to take on Trump. Come on, Jeff, there are very few decent Republicans left anymore!

In a recent poll, Democratic voters favor Biden in 2020. Sanders ranks second. O'Rourke ranks third and is ascending rapidly. A political consultant says O'Rourke is "Barack Obama, but white." No, Barack Obama is Barack Obama. Doy!

The most unpopular President in modern history has failed to gain support of anyone other than core Republicans. Politico analyst Steven Shepard opines that Trump's re-election is looking increasingly unlikely but still is possible, depending on his approval ratings in 2020. They have ranged between 35% and 45%. Right now 43% approve of the way Trump is handling his job as President and 53% disapprove. I bet every one of those 43% is a Republican.

Kasich's final term as Governor of Ohio ends in January. He ran for President in 2000 and 2016. Could the third time be the charm?

John Kasich says he's 'very seriously' considering a 2020 run for President
