The Kincade fire in Sonoma County has now burned 21,900 acres and is only 5% contained. Yikes!

At a just-concluded press conference, officials from CalFire, CHP and the Sheriff's Department updated the numbers on the Tick fire. The area burned is now reported as 4,300 acres and the fire is at 5% containment. Six homes have been destroyed and 15,000 homes are threatened. Driven by overnight winds with gusts of 50 mph, the fire jumped the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway. More than 600 firefighters are battling the blaze. Sadly, this is a typical October in Southern California.
