The two Rhode Island legislators who introduced the bill to ban bump stocks said they had never even heard of bump stocks prior to last year's massacre in Las Vegas. It's nice to see so many states taking action while the NRA puppets in the Republican-led US Congress do absolutely nothing to stem the rising tide of gun violence.

More than 1,400 victims and survivors of the shooting spree have sued MGM/Mandalay Bay for failing to prevent Stephen Paddock from stockpiling weapons in his room. Fearing potential settlements that could cost many millions of dollars, MGM has filed a lawsuit of its own, denying any complicity or liability. They're all heart, aren't they?

Stephen Paddock spent $95,000 on guns, smuggled them into a room at the Mandalay Bay, opened fire on the crowd below, killed 58 people, injured 851 and then took his own life. The ten-month investigation has concluded -- and his motive remains undetermined.

A new "Community Healing Garden" will be dedicated -- but I doubt the victims and their families will ever heal.

Bump stocks can be attached to semi-automatic weapons to allow the shooter to fire continuous rounds with only one pull of the trigger. Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 people at a 2017 Las Vegas music festival, used bump stocks. Today, the Trump administration did something I never expected they would do: They made bump stocks illegal under federal law. Thank you, President Trump, for standing up to the NRA on this issue!

"Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted" is a popular American idiom which means it is pointless to try to take action when it is already too late. Here is a good example: Stephen Paddock's guns should have been destroyed before he shot and killed 58 people. Destroying them now won't do much good -- although, if a judge approves the weapons' destruction, the donated money will be divided among the victims' families. Small comfort.

On October 1, 2017, a gunman in Las Vegas fired more than 1,100 rounds of ammunition, killing 58 people and wounding 422. Soon there will be a new community center – but the 58 community members who were shot and killed wil never be able to enjoy it.
