Yep, and i'm somebody from his past as well I guess, and you probably are too. As you can tell from his posts, muscle exists in his own seperate reality. He's like the family crazy uncle.... We just nod and wink at each other and let him go off on his theories and tangents. He may be a bit off center, but he's part if the family and we miss him when he's not around.

Some of media's highest EBITDA margin businesses come from areas where the company doesn't acquire any eyeballs.

Licensing content to other companies. Cable business to business services - its fastest growing revenue business, with its highest EBITDA margins - over 50%. Sirius even has a high margin business to business service that rivals its radio margins and thats its telematics business. They license to the car companies - White label business.

So, we wake up tomorrow and SiriusXM loses 50% of its "eyballs" (subs) we have nothing to worry about because.... EBITA?

You see the problem right? EBITA is great but no one single metric should be used to invest in stocks. If that were the case you could ignore all other news and just stare at EBITA all day.

BTW, if you are only concerned with investing long term, with no plans of trading like the "morons" on this forum. why do you bother reading news on a day to day basis? You've been sure of SiriusXM and their business/stock for years so, why even bother looking at the day to day detritus?

People love that 5 year chart. What about those who have been invested for 10 years? That's one crappy long term investment!

But smart people would have just bought and hold right? Thats how you invest. Its not gambling, its mathematics.

Tell you what I do like for investors that don't follow the market intensely and even for those who do. Vanguard S&P 500 indexes. Provides diversification, international exposure (close to 50% of earnings come from overseas), good dividends, very low cost, and over the long term beats just about every other investment vehicle out there. Historically over about a century you get close to an 8 or 9% annual return (including dividends) at a very low cost. Hard to beat! Power of diversification really. They call diversification the "Only Free Lunch" in investing. As you get older you have to put some in bonds for when the market drops. You don't want to sell stocks for income in a down market, only in an up market, so bonds become a part. I would say 20%. Bogle says 40%, Buffett says 10%. One thing is for sure, bonds (short term, long term, tax free municipals etc) have to be a part in retirement. I think Mel has a large amount in municipals from his last CNBC interview.

Agree with Vanguard in general. Their ETF rates make everyone else look like crooks.

Short term DIS should make a nice trade with Starwars etc.....long term, it could get ugly unless they figure things out and quick!
