Sirius XM: Please Tell Me Again About The Big Bad Connected Car

    http://seekingalpha.com/article/3443...-connected-car

I find it hilarious when people talk about Sirius XM and the Connected Car, they fail to mention the partnerships that help them get to that point. Get a clue.

"AT&T*, the leader in emerging telecommunications services, today announced an agreement with Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) to provide mobile connectivity to support a suite of security and additional services for Nissan automobiles in North America.SiriusXM’s in-vehicle telematics solution will provide Nissan vehicle owners 24/7 emergency support for accidents, stolen vehicle tracking and roadside assistance, along with a host of additional services to be announced at a later date.

“Your future car is going to be a smartphone with four wheels with powerful capabilities specifically built for a safe and enhanced customer experience,” said Glenn Lurie, president of AT&T Emerging Enterprises and Partnerships Organization. “By adding fast, reliable and built-in mobile internet for SiriusXM’s forthcoming in-car experience, we are powering a connected experience inside Nissan automobiles for both drivers and passengers.”

@User... more OLD news on AT&T and Sirius XM and the Connected Car. Another example of people not understanding how the Connected Car works.

That new "iPhone Forever" plan sounds promising. I bet a lot of families will jump on that.

Promising for Sprint that's for sure. With my i6 through Verizon I had to pay $200 upfront and a two year commitment for them to subsidize the rest ($400+) and I own the phone. With the $22/month iPhone forever that's $264 in the first year the customer pays so even if they just keep it for 1 year Sprint is recouping an extra $64 over the standard subsidy....and they get the phone back which they can refurbish/resell. If the customer keeps the phone for two years, which is pretty standard, Sprint recoups $528...almost the entire cost of the phone.
I would agree though that many many people will opt for paying an extra $22/month vs. parting with $200 up front.

Have you seen the 4 lines for $100 plan? That's another good plan, no? I've thought about switching but we only have 3 people in my family.

Now that the articles are saying that Comcast Watchable will compete with YouTube, Facebook video and such, and Comcast has investments in Vox, Buzzfeed and Hulu -which competes with Netflix, I decided to look at EBITDA valuations.

    Comcast compared to Netflix......

Comcast is trading at about 8 times current EV/EBITDA and Netflix is trading at about 128 times current EV/EBITDA. So Netflix EBITDA multiple is 16 times higher than Comcast. If Comcast were to trade at the same EBITDA multiple as Netflix it would be valued at $960 a share instead of $60. LOL Funny! Here is to hoping Netflix keeps rising. It only makes Comcast which is entering the streaming video business look that much more attractive.
