Good question. I remember when it was only EV/EBITDA in the 90s. I think it has to do with the extent of capital expenditures maturity of growth and buybacks now. It was easier to value in the 90s. There is no doubt that stock buybacks have changed the valuation game.
If the buybacks continue at this torrid pace, I could actually envision a day 5 years from now when all media companies are valued on EPS again like they were in the 70s and 80s. It has already happened to all the content companies- Disney CBS Fox and Time Warner. I can see it going across cable and satellite too one day. Hasn't happened yet.
The good thing for us media fanatics that loved the 90s Yahoo has EV/EBITDA multiples listed for all companies under Key Statistics. And they are updated every few days. At minimum once a week.

Watch for another possible siri buying opportunity at months end when apple starts to go into hype mode about their new subscription streaming product which starts june 30th.
I've been around DM.
Mostly as an observer. Enjoy the thoughts and opinions of guys like you , Denco. and a few others. Am enjoying the commentary from Muscle and appreciate his thoughts on the industry as a whole.
The noise from some of the other folks doesn't always sit well so I'd rather stay away and avoid any urge to reduce myself to those levels. Which BTW I've been know to do. LOL
Some folks seem to think they know everything which disturbs me a bit.
Take care man. I'll be watching.

Last year Live Nation got into a contentious battle with Nederlander/AEG for rights to the Greek Theater here in L.A. First they won , then they lost, now I don't know who's running things. Maybe the city which was also an option under consideration.
It appears that they sell tickets to the Greek concerts as well as the Forum here.
If Live Nation can get the rights to operate these type of venues, as well as controlling these music festivals it can only provide an avenue for Sirius to promote their service.
Places like the Greek and such cater to all age groups which Sirius does as well.
A banner here. A booth over there.
Selling some discounted packages or giving trials to interested parties could only be a positive.
Let's get this done.

Good to know your back Hedy. I know you took some time off from here cuz you were sick of some of the bs..cant say i blame ya. peace brotha.
i honestly thought a deal between siri, lmca, yahoo and live nation would have been accomplished years ago... Malone recently came out with a comment about how he thinks LN and siri should somehow work together or something to that effect. I was under the impression that live nation owns a lot of venues as is.
