    Just checking in guys.

With the way the FCC blocked this Comcast TWC merger after 14 months, it is my belief if Mel waited any longer to do the Sirius XM merger years ago and gotten a Democratic FCC instead of a Republican one, the sat radio merger would have been blocked. And there would be no sat radio company existing today. Remember when the govt blocked Blockbuster and Hollywood video? Where are they today? Anyway Comcast will be fine. I am expecting a strategy similar to Sirius - with a huge buyback coming. Perhaps 10 billion dollars as stated in Barrons this weekend. If there is one thing I love as a media investor is BUYBACKS! I just love em! TWC will probably be bought by Charter, as all the media publications speculated on Friday, and cable multiples will keep going up as Broadband takes over and eventually WiFi/wireless becomes part of a cable quad play instead of a triple play.

But lets thank our lucky stars Mel did the merger when he did. Looking back, we as investors all got rich because of the merger and the alternative was no sat radio company at all.

Here is Mel talking CBS Time Warner at NAB a couple of weeks back. Gotta love Mel. Almost seems like he wants back into the media world to me. Just speculating - Time Warner - independent board, NY based, maybe a Republican administration coming hmmmmm.....

Any idea when the run up is happening? Or did it already happen?

bdp...not sure. This past quarter price action has been an anomaly to me. Years ago you could expect a .10 to .20 cent run up in the week leading up to the cc and then see it sell off immediately after just as much if not more. Then for the last year and a half we played the $3.00/$3.68 yo-yo game. Now it seems that with the converts removed/shorting diminished the price seems to be more stable. I for one can honestly say i was quite surprised we did not go back down to 3.70 area after this past run up. Not complaining about it not doing so, but its in my siri dna to just expect it to after so many years of seeing drop hard after nice runs.

One thing that is on my mind concerning quarterly numbers this time around was the brutal winter we had in the northeast and how it affected sales. We will find out tomorrow.
