    2014 January

    Another year huh?

Anyhoo - I'm kind of back in the game. My main swing trading account is up 9% for the year, so that's not a bad way to start. Fwiw - that's with money management, so no stock has been bought that represented more than 10% of the account (in actuality, I think 7% has been the limit so far this year). Currently, in that one, I have AAPL, ARWR, AUDC, BCRX, CPST, CTIC, ENVI, FB, FRP, HA, MEA, MERU, MHR, SPCB, and ZNGA. All are green except AUDC, where I'm down $6 at the moment. I give it one more day, then I'll cut my losses short.

My buddy got me interested in PHOT (now by interested, I mean where I'm not purely swing trading/TA ing it). These days, I normally run my scanner, pare down the list after a few minutes based on TA, then take some positions (of course after monitoring what I have). Thus, I don't plan on "holding" any of them, nor do I bother to look at what the names of the companies are. Anyway, I got in on that one in another account cause of the commissions tier. I've cashed out 2/5 already, but holding the rest for the moment. It came down hard as expected, but I'm still well into the green. Anyway - ends up its in one of the accounts I hold things longer like SIRI (which is held mainly for no reason other than sick brotherhood - unless it turns down), S, and a short on FAZ.

    That's my current story.

Ouch, I'm down $6.80 on AUDC, I may not wait until tomorrow...

Anyone out there trading anything but SIRI? Any swing traders out there?

    Sold 1/2 CPST, (in 1.38, out 1.55) 12.3% gain, held 7 days*
    Sold 1/2 BCRX, (in 8.50, out 9.84) 15.7% gain, held 7 days*

BCRX re-rallyed above $10, which is what I wanted to hold. Luckily, I only sold half, so still in the game, since it ran back to 10.06

I'd post a chart like in the good ol' days, but I need better webspace. Maybe I should get a new account somewhere, my current host doesn't actually allow ssh/scp/rsync, so I hate using it.

Maybe I'll write a little program to calc what these positions in my swing trade account are worth percentage wise.

    *includes weekends

Ok - So, it's monday. I also wrote my little script/program for this new little swing trading acct. Ah, yes, the "new" and the "little". I recently got hitched, so, this acct is actually the first joint account. It took quite a bit of negotiating to get this thing started. That said, I could only negotiate starting w/ $10k. If it grows enough, we will add more. Kind of a little challenge. So, what I did was, since it's a new broker, was I made a few trades before the year to see how it works. Then more or less officially started trading to start the thing rolling. Though, I started on Dec 30, not after the 1st. This is because those earlier trades to see how it worked brought the balance down, and I wanted an even $10K for the beginning of the year.

    Anyway, here's the results:
    AAPL 9.96 %*
    ARWR 38.74 %
    AUDC 0.79 %
    BCRX 24.24 %
    CPST 13.04 %
    CTIC 42.65 %
    ENVI 0.86 %
    FB 14.56 %*
    FRP 13.22 %
    HA 2.99 %
    MEA 23.98 %
    MERU 14.39 %
    MHR 2.10 %
    SPCB 27.59 %
    ZNGA 10.90 %*

*These I had before Dec. 30. (you can also see why holding them is kind of a waste, I get no more oomph from holding them, than any other short term swing trade).

Anyway, the rest were bought Dec30 to last friday.

As said - I don't dig on losses, I don't dig on drawdowns. Thats for other people to enjoy, so cutting losses short:
Sold AUDC (in 7.64, out 7.62) -0.26% loss
Sold ENVI (in 3.50, out 3.50) scratch
Sold MHR (in 7.61, out 7.6001) -0.13% loss

    ######################
Booking some profits - though, probably should book more:
    Sold 1/5 CTIC (in 2.04, out 2.92) 43.1% gain

    ######################
    Bought the following fwiw:
    BTN 5.075
    GTI 11.658
    JOEZ 1.24
    KUTV 3.1699

    ######################
Currently, it looks like my new trades suck except for JOEZ
I may have to close some out before the day is done.

Bought MDDD 1.65 at the close, this one looks risky, but it was really really tough to get a fill, so that says perhaps it may move.

    ARWR 37.65 %
    BCRX 31.41 %

    MERU 16.13 %
    SPCB 25.76 %
    ZNGA 10.35 %
    RIC 2.34 %

    #########
    So what happened so far:
New position in RIC 1.28 - why? my scanners keep showing metals, semiconductors and health stocks as leaders.

    #########
    Cut losses early:
Sold KUTV (in 3.1699, out 3.15) -0.63% loss

    #########
    Book profits:
Sold last half MEA (in 1.96, out 2.23) 13.78% gain - sold this one as it was taking a beating today

    #########
Trying to also get out of some of yesterdays riff raff trades.
MDDD bought yesterday took off, looking to shave some of that off too.

    ########
Still working on trying to get some charts up.

Haha! what are you up to Just Sirius? Hanging out in your cabin watching the money roll in?

Yes, I'm trying my best to call my shots, but, it is kind of a pain in the butt. We'll see how much energy I have.

    So what's going on?

Actually, I have a question for you... I still have some SIRI stock in another account. On the other message board it looked like they were talking about SIRI being bought. Is this just talk, or is SIRI siriusly on the table to be bought out? The stock really hasn't moved in the last 6 months as far as I have seen, it's up against some resistance, so I have no qualms in dumping what I got. A while back I had a bunch of sprint stock (ticker is S) that went thru a company buyout, and I got some cash, and some new shares. Had I been paying attention, I would have opted for all shares on that one cause the stock was still moving. I'm just curious what the deal is on the table for SIRI, if there really is one.
