stilletto issues

my stilletto 2 isnt asking me to connect to the pc

it just says gathering playlist info and gathering song info when i plug in the usb

anyone know whats up

i have no subscription currently and just trying to use it as a mp3, so i went to put a new cd on it and it dosnt ask to connect to pc as it use to do, it just says

gathering folder info
gathering song info
gathering playlist info
