4th Warmest US Winter on Record — Thank You, “Global Cooling” (Not)

No surprise here — the U.S. is just wrapping up its 4th-warmest winter on record (at least, for the 48 contiguous states that NOAA focuses on). In addition to the near-record warmth, it was also drier than average, especially in the West and Southwest.

The average temperature across the contiguous 48 states of the United States for December through February: 36.8 degrees F. That’s “3.9 degrees F above the 1901-2000 long-term average — the warmest since 2000.”
