    Confirmed! Commissioners are deliberating!

    http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/r...ent=6520033444

From an e-mail received TODAY! Not an in-person meeting...

""I hope this information is helpful in your deliberations. We again urge you to vote against approval of the merger..."

That article also supports some of the assertions made in the Warren article from today. Apparently the idea of local advertising isn't going over well. Obviously its a situation easily remedied, all the FCC would have to do is make it part of the agreement.

Can anyone tell me what the logic is behind not allowing satellite radio to advertise locally? Is that just something the NAB lobbied for at the birth of the technology because it would completely screw them otherwise?

Can't she have her staff issue a PR while she is on a plane?

This seems like a lot of wishful thinking. One could argue that they've been "deliberating" since the proposal was distributed. Hell, you could even argue that they have been since day 1 of the merger. This isn't a jury.

taken out of context, yes. But the telling tail is in certain events that transpired today. For starters, there have been no fcc meetings with anyone since the 3rd. There have been 2 e-mails sent in, that seem to be a sort of outcry for one last push by some opposition. The second e-mail presumes the merger to be approved..

Let's hope so, it sure seems like we are getting closer. None the less, I think the lack of meeting activity is more due to the holiday weekend.

BTW, wasn't one of those e-mails directed at Martin? Kind of strange being as he has publically thrown his support behind the current concessions. It's like they are barking up the wrong tree.

Do you think Cramer could have any credible reason as to why this deal may not be decided until September?

isn't September the end of quarter 3?

If, XM/Sirius can't get approval to after the reporting of the 2nd quarter, wouldn't they not be able to close XM's books till the end of the 3rd quarter

So the merge could be approved, but there not fully able to become a single company till September

IMO it was just him running his mouth. He can't say with any degree of certainty that just because it didn't hit before July 1st, the process has somehow been sucked into a three month blackhole. Whatever was holding up the decision at the end of that week could easily be resolved by the end of this one, etc. etc.

    Encore of last week's thread.

Here's hoping Newman's July 11th prediction is on the money.
