    1. If you lose over 10% sell and try to make it back somewhere else (though I almost sold INTC at 8% loss, but I believed in it and it made a 13% come back last week!)
    2. Sell a stock after you make 20% (though with the rocky market I've been selling after 5-8% because it happens so fast right now you can get out and buy back lower within weeks)
    3. Try to wait for a stock to come to you, look for gaps to fill, wait for low volume that brings the price down 5-8% during lulls, then pounce. (been working, except its hard to time perfectly, sometimes I lose another 2% before it goes back up)

Sweet, starting to sound like a swing trader like me... definitely much easier to stomach than having all your chips go south!

I saw your signature before. It's tough to talk stocks right now because i'm in and out some so fast. And I don't really mean to be, I'd stay in one for a year for a 5-10% gain but I'm getting them within days so I have to get out because i met my goal.

I am finding that I can go long on some soon or change my goal for return. but like you said, its easier to stomach protecting profits when things also are falling so fast and sometimes for no reason.

Right now, it's a good thing I'm primarily a swing trader... not losing anything at all thru that, lol.

I hope your keeping up with the action! About 2 weeks ago I noticed an increasing short interest all around and dropping macd and broken technicals, so I took 15% out of the market and put it on my mortgage for a quick 6.5% "future" gain, and went long intc. Right idea, but should have stayed cash for a bit, but intc looked like it had plenty of support at different levels. Oops.
