    Toyota cutbacks likely through 2011

Toyota said Friday its output of new cars won’t be fully restored until November or December. The Japanese earthquake-tsunami disaster disrupted the automaker’s supply chain and car production in Japan and North America, which in turn has impacted advertising. As Inside Radio reported this week, Toyota has pulled its radio spots off the air in some markets through the end of May.

SBS asks shareholders to approve reverse stock split

To head off a potential delisting of its stock by Nasdaq because of its low stock price, Spanish Broadcasting System has asked shareholders to approve a reverse stock split. If enacted, a reverse split would likely put SBS back in compliance with the minimum bid price of $1, albeit with many fewer shares available to trade.

SiriusXM making good on diverse programmer pledge

    http://www.rbr.com/radio/siriusxm-ma...er-pledge.html

According to conditions of the merger between satellite audio services Sirius and XM, it is providing long term leases to companies that will provide diverse programming on the SiriusXM channel lineup. Seven of those channels have now been assigned.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski commented, “This marks a valuable step in increasing the diversity of programming available to satellite radio listeners while promoting access for new entrants and independent satellite radio programming. I applaud Sirius XM for its new line up.”

SRK Translation of Chairman Genachowski's statement: "Screw you Tyler Savery and your fakakta theory about we the FCC setting prices; we just covered our asses and called Frear to thank him for his timely greasing of the skids."

Politics 101: FCC price-cap is now a complete nonissue; this is how politics is done.

    Calculating the Citadel sale multiple

Now that Citadel Broadcasting has reported its full year 2010 financial results we can calculate a more accurate multiple for the company’s sale to Cumulus Media. So, let’s do the math! For 2010 Citadel reported segment operating income (SOI) of $272.2 million. SOI appears to be equivalent to broadcast cash flow (BCF). That SOI, by the way, was up 24.6% from 2009.

Is Livio's Kit a cheap SiriusXM replacement?

Livio, which used to be known for its tabletop Internet radios, is going to be taking a bigger plunge into the Internet car radio market this summer with its upcoming $99 Kit, a Bluetooth wireless "head unit" that plugs into your cigarette lighter adapter and includes a mic and speakerphone, as well as a built-in USB port for charging your phone.

Basically, it works like this: Upon entering your car, you pair your iPhone or Android smartphone with the Kit (via Bluetooth), and the Livio Car Internet Radio app automatically launches. You then stream the Internet radio station over your cellular data connection to your car's built-in radio over an FM signal. If you get a call, you press a button on the Kit to take it over the speakerphone (using your cars speakers), and when you hang up, your Internet audio streaming will resume.

Obviously, the one glaring limitation of Internet radio in your car is that cellular data connection. You don't need much bandwidth to stream audio but there are still plenty of dead zones and areas where there's simply no coverage. But for those who live in areas where the coverage is good, you do have a tremendous amount Internet radio stations to choose from, and in many ways a solution like this could serve as a free alternative to satellite radio.

Citigroup - Bazinet (reposted for someone who asked)

A tender offer for 100% prior to March of 2011 seems highly unlikely, according to Bazinet. There are few incentives for Liberty to do this, as it would destroy Sirius XM’s NOLs. If Sirius XM’s stock price remains at “current levels” over the next couple of years, Bazinet “expects” Liberty Media to boost its stake in Sirius XM to 80% — after March of 2012. He notes many reasons for this, including the “significant” benefit from the sharing of the NOLs between Sirius XM and Starz. “The effective cost to Capital would be $1.6 billion when taking into account the value of accelerated NOL usage under a tax sharing agreement between Sirius and Starz,” explains Bazinet.

Based on some of Spencer's comments written today, he seems to think the stock can get and stay above 2.00. This might be the first upgrade he has given since he commented about the stock trading in a range between .90 and 1.10 and how investors got too excited when the stock went up 10 cents because nobody seemed to understand that this meant 600M in market cap. Well about 6B in market cap later, here we are....
