I still can't get Tyler Savery to discuss this one with me . . he gets very indignant when I bring it up.

Options traders have turned their attention to Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (ANR) and Sirius XM Radio Inc. (SIRI), with volume rising well beyond the usual level for both stocks. Puts are in heavy rotation on ANR, while speculators are favoring calls on SIRI.

Put volume has surged on ANR today, with activity ramping up to three times the usual level. About 11,000 contracts have been exchanged so far, compared to just 7,522 calls. Most active is ANR's June 43 put, where 4,250 contracts have traded -- 92% at the bid price, suggesting most of these contracts were sold.

By selling the June 43 put, traders are essentially wagering that ANR will remain at or above $43 through the first half of the year. If this technical forecast comes to fruition, put writers may retain their initial net credit as the maximum potential profit on this strategy.

ANR has fallen on hard times lately, with the shares trending lower on news of a major acquisition. The stock has been pressured south by its 10-day and 20-day moving averages, but ANR is now testing support at its 80-day trendline.

Meanwhile, calls are the options of choice on SIRI, with roughly 27,000 contracts crossing the tape so far -- narrowly outpacing the equity's average daily call volume of about 26,000 contracts.

The stock's March 2 call has seen 3,743 contracts exchanged, while the March 1.50 strike isn't far behind, having traded volume of 3,578 contracts. The majority of these calls changed hands near the ask price, implying they were most likely purchased.

At last check, SIRI is up 1.7% to trade near $1.75, extending a longer-term uptrend along the support of its 10-week and 20-week moving averages. SIRI earlier tagged an intraday high of $1.80, marking its best price since July 2008.

    SB Trivia # 7

During 2009, which regular SB poster delivered the following, premature, eulogy:

"hearing unconfirmed rumors that tyler has quit the Buzz and it is for sale,so looks like the buzz is disappearing also, unless i hear different from charles and Tyler, but i think the last 2 weeks since tyler's good bye confirms it for me and no articles since charles 's on sept 10th... If this is so,i want to thank Tyler and Charles for giving me a great place to come and post and find great people to share info with and learn about this great company called SXM...I have enjoyed it here immensely and think it could have lasted for a long time but human nature got in the way and ruined what i thought was one of the best sites on the net for honest factual real time info on SiriusXM radio...

I'll continue to check in and post when real info pertinent to us longs comes out and hope to share info on...maybe someone good will buy it and keep it going..."

"Liberty Media’s 40% stake in Sirius XM is currently represented in its Liberty Capital LCAPA tracking stock. Last month, Liberty announced a plan to separate its Liberty Starz and Liberty Capital tracking stock groups from its Liberty Interactive tracking stock group. If Liberty’s plan gains approval, Liberty Capital and Liberty Starz would then become apart of an asset-backed company called “Newco.” The newly formed Newco would be represented by two separate tracking stocks, Newco Starz and Newco Capital. Meanwhile, Liberty Interactive (LINTA) would then become asset based. In light of Liberty’s decision to not do a hard spin of LCAPA, LSTZA and LINTA, Bazinet’s analysis focuses on how Liberty may create increased shareholder value over the next couple of years.

What does Bazinet see as the most likely scenarios? He sees Overture Films, which is currently part of Starz Media and represented by Liberty Capital, being shuttered or sold. He then sees the remaining Starz Media assets, in exchange for cash, being re-attributed to Liberty Starz. In order to lessen or remove the tracking stock discount, he expects Newco Starz to “ultimately be spun out as an asset backed security.” Bazinet then sees the newly created Newco Capital either entering into a tax sharing agreement with the newly created Newco Starz, or entering into a RMT (Reverse Morris Trust) transaction with Sirius XM."

    SB Trivia # 8

On October 6, 2010, who posted the following comment:

“I have stated multiple times that I think SIRI is fairly valued at $1.10. SIRI enjoys a high multiple right now. What part of that do you not comprehend? In Q2, when similar auto sales numbers were delivered , the company announced 583,000 net additions to the subscriber roles. Q3 should deliver a similar number, however, the Pandora’s of the world are getting to use the freeway while Sirius XM is on the toll road.”
