The huge and growing wealth gap, what it means to us and the country, and its beginnings are important subjects to study. This dangerous and destructive disease affects everything more than we realize.

This is an essay from Tom Dispatch, reprinted at AlterNet, that contains a wealth of information about this subject by focussing on a brilliant early writer who explained it well. Yes, it is long and so suggests occasional stops to reflect and digest the engrossing insights, but read it and stay with it. You will learn much.

This post is AGAIN evidence that this thread's name is accurate. Beware of greed. It can kill you.

This is an additional post re Boeing's criminal behavior causing the 737 Max to crash. Uncontrolled capitalism, coupled with the corporate capture of government oversight, is eroding our ability to trust business - and our safety.

Here is a visual explanation of the two crashes that killed hundreds in faulty Boeing equipment. It explains "corporate capture" very well.

The name of this thread was never an exaggeration. Capitalism can and does kill.

There are many lies pushed as truth in this country. One of the most vicious is the one that says capitalism is a totally beneficial economic system. Many know this is untrue and their numbers are growing.

This thread was started to expose some examples of the lie. Here is a must-read that continues that effort.

There is a liquidity crisis on Wall Street. As in the prior financial meltdown, the Fed is providing loans to institutions in amounts that are concerning and at low rates that the public never sees - except for our savings accounts.

This link provides information from a site that focusses on malfeasance in the financial sector. This is the latest installment. Read prior days as well for additional background.

    Boeing 737-Max

The reason this thread was started was because it is clear that any entity whose primary interest is profit will potentially do dangerous things without any concern for the public's wellbeing. Making money is the only thing they will care about.

The Boeing 737-Max crashes have been exposed as caused by an unwillingness to spend money for improved systems and training that would ensure a safe aircraft in specific conditions. The aircraft has been appropriately grounded until assurances are received that the problems have been resolved. Of course, the company has never shown any real interest in doing everything necessary to fix the problems. They have insisted everything is now okay. The government, almost totally under corporate control in every industry, has so far not agreed to a resumption of cerification. That's a big surprise and I hope it lasts. Hundreds of lives were lost and I would be happy to see Boeing hurt permanently.

Here is an 737-Max update from someone in the industry.

Seems the Boeing 737 MAX saga has even more to it. It shows the company is infested with vicious and uncaring employees who do not consider ethics or safety to be important.

As I have shown before, corporations can kill you - and laugh about it.

The pay gap between top executives and workers continues to be wide. Since 1978, CEO compensation rose 1,007.5% for CEOs, compared with 11.9% for average workers, according to the Economic Policy Institute. In comparative terms, CEOs now make 278 times the average worker.

This country should be renamed, The United Corporate States of America. The government overwhelmingly exists to facilitate corporate profits and overall success. Fair and appropriate regulations are considered an unnecessary intrusions. Those who work to protect citizens from corporate overreach are derided.

Working people/consumers are an afterthought at best as this thread shows. The Labor Day "Holiday" is a cruel JOKE!

Some of those who are avoiding vaccination use the perfidy of the pharmaceutical industry as a reason. There is ample evidence supporting that assertion, however, it is not a reason to risk a serious health problem or death.

The pandemic obviously has not slowed that industry's vicious predatory behavior to increase profits while being indifferent to human needs.
