Ok lets go from the start in March Obama says that Afganistan is the war that needs to be won and be fought. He then put in a plan (that was given to him by the Bush administration) and puts General McCristal in to give Obama a recommendation on what will be needed to accomplish it. A few months go by and General McCristal comes back with something like: Well not only is that plan impossible with what I have but unless I get 40,000 to 80,000 (yes folks thats right and unless you watched FOX you did not know that 40,000 was the lowest number of troops asked for and that it went as high as 80,000) more troops AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, time is of the essence, the whole Afgan campaign will be in jeopardy. Obama then gets this in Aug. and waits 3 months, 3 months with "time is of the essence" he waits 3 months to do the very same plan that he said he would do in March (and given to him by the Bush administration), but basically says to General McCristal, yes, yes, I know I PUT you there to recommend what was needed to get the job done and I know you said you needed at least 40,000 more troops to as many as 80,000 troops but I decided to give you 30,000 troops, 25% less then the LOWEST estimate you gave me. Ho and by the way even though I wasted 3 months on this, I want you to do it in 18 months.
So lets put this in a nut shell and recap:
1) Obama hand picks General McCristal to tell him what is needed to accomplish the mission set forth.
2) Obama gets that recommantation that says 40,000 to 80,000 troops ASAP.
3) Obama then waits 3 months to do the same mission.
4) Obama then says thanks for the recommendation, that I put you there for but I am not going to listen to it. I got others here for that. So I will send 25% less then your LOWEST estimate.
Hummmm, I am sorry I cant follow that logic at all. If there is anyone that can, please help me out here.
