    The new losers in energy

Of course this is just one article but wouldnt you know it one of the losers is said to be hydrogen cars. John claims they will outdistance hybrids, hybrid plug-ins and electric cars before they are all "economically and technically feasible".

To be fair to John i was an early proponent of hydrogen cars but got somewhat disillusioned but what i read about costs and the sources for the hydrogen However, there are still supporters of hydrogen for cars including some car companies and their executives. Some people suggest that in the far future the best cars may be a combination of electric and hydrogen. We shall see.

In 2002, GM said "it was 'possible' that hundreds of thousands of fuel cell vehicles could be on the road by 2010. In 2006, GM revised that estimate to 1,000 by 2010. Now, GM says it wont make that 1,000-vehicle goal, in large part because of the lack of a network of REFUELING STATIONS AND HIGH COST." "No automaker has committed to bringing a fuel cell vehicle to the mass market before 2015." By then there will be many millions of hybrid and hybrid plug-ins and even some electrics on the road.

    On the other hand.
"Despite the EXPLODING world wide interest in electric vehicles, the automakers maintain their support for fuel cell vehicles. Damiler, Ford, GM,
Honda, Hyundai, Renault, Nissan and Toyota this month released a joint statement endorsing fuel cell vehicles. The signing automobile manufacturers strongly anticipate that from 2015 onwards, a quite significant number of ELECTRIC vehicles with fuel cells could be commercialized, they said."
It should be interesting to see if this 2015 date slips.
No matter what happens the next 10 to 20 years in automobile production are going to very exciting.
