Sam Adams is great beer! I have a kegerator out in the garage. I used to buy a keg a month of New Belgium wheat (an extremely fine Colorado micro-brew) and drink it. I have had a couple of kegs of Sam Adams..in between New Belgium Wheat Ale. Sam Adams is fine beer!

Here is a challenge. What do you make of this chart? Let's have some fun with it. What do you see here and while applying news, the indicators and such. Give it a shot! You may have to clear your cache, because I use this file name a lot. This chart is from www.stockcharts.com.

    [QUOTE=GoHerdGreg;48688]OT Time!

This post is for Andy (Alaska Guy), who was so gracious enough to send us some smoked salmon and other fresh fish he caught in the great state of Alaska.

Andy, I simply breaded one side of the fish you marked as "R" using corn meal, then cooked them low-and-slow on the gas grill. OUTSTANDING. I know the Lingcod is marked with "LC" on the package...I'd love to know what the "R" fish is. Very tasty!

Andy...if you have any suggestions for preparing/cooking the Lingcod, I could use them right about now. We plan on cooking it up on Saturday (tomorrow).
    QUOTE]

Hey Greg and Fam!!! Glad you like that R fish!!! No better way then to grilll them on the BBQ!!! That would be a fresh Sockeye Salmon fillet...also known as a Red Salmon....they are probably the best salmon that Alaska has to offer...we get huge runs of them up the Kenai River...my family and I dipnetted for them last month...

As far as cooking up the lingcod....I bake it "Halibut Olympia" Style....which is 1 part Sour Cream....1 Part Mayo....chopped green onions.....and alot of shredded parmesan cheese...Mix it all in a bowl....Put lincod fillet in a glass baking pan...season it and cover the fish with your mixture...then take a whole mess of crackers, any kind..I use ritz crackers, put them in a ziplock...crush em up real good and spread it on top of your fish...Bake at 350 until cooked...its the bomb diggity .

Any halibut/rockfish/snapper type recipe will do really. I especially like beer battered and deep fried myself, Fish and Chips style.

By the way, you have a beautiful looking family...the weather looks really pleasant.

    Andy--
Wrote that recipe down. Will report back tomorrow on how good the Lingcod was.
Weather? It's mid-80s with 60-70% humidity; in essence, it's like a jungle down here.

    Bill--
I am good looking ONLY after a couple glasses of Makers Mark, obviously.

The guitar is a dream to play. The action on it is perfect, and I have never adjusted it in the 13 years I've owned the guitar. The SPD-16T was a hybrid of two or three other Martin models. IIRC...the back is from a D45. Parts-bin special, in other words.

If you saw the movie, then you know my story. If you haven't seen the movie…go rent it or download it. I am in the movie for about .0000023 of a second in the final scene, part of a large crowd. A lot of friends were extras in the movie.

Down to Earth we are... That is cool that you have a shop going. I have a garage full of tools. The problem with my business is that I do so many things that I have to have a ton of tools. I am constantly loading and unloading my vehicle to do different projects. It is a real pain in the ass.

If I had a dedicated means, like specializing in one thing, then I could just keep everything in order and replenish my truck.

I got into this business after leaving the corporate world for one reason - to get the stress off of my back. I have a long history of mechanical background though. I was a machinist and fired the boilers at a refinery in Sinclair, Wyoming. I worked in the oilfield for many years. I worked as a precision inspector with the design engineers in the wind tunnels at Boeing on the 757 and 767. I was out in the Bering Sea on fishing and crab boats for a lot of years and went to welding school for kicks..plus more. I went to sea after graduate school and having a computer consulting business. I majored in Anatomy and Physiology. I have been all over the board, but I have always done what I want to do whenever. I have had a lot of fun.

I have a history that is crazy.

We are glad that you are here!
Look for a book by that title coming to a store near you any day now ... It's just needs that subtitle ... and poker players, hunters and fishermen ... bored to death adolescents carrying heavy boxes ...etc.

Seriously, there is something incredibly intriguing and remarkable with this group ... It makes my day reading all this, still trying to get caught up ... A lot of last night's ramble can be ignored now ... short of what the "Herd" is all about ... I am a city-folk so go easy on me ...

Ramsey - yes a very good thing about being the same Ramsey from the 'wave' ! You are adding a tremendous amount over here now as well - I cannot be bothered with the whole ... it just doesn't matter, both of these sites ... Going back to late last year, my first little buy into SIRI, I think it was like 200 or 300 shares and for all that I had silently 'researched' for about year, still I was plenty 'scare-ed' to even begin investing my OWN money ... extrapolated out to today ... My gratitude to just these two sites and the overwhelming great insight and experience coupled with the personalities and peccadillo's ... I am doing pretty darned good considering my original hope\expectation\wishful thinking of getting 10K out of SIRI and now I am diversified just like a big shot in all these pennies! I have come a long ways ...

FWIW - I still believe in miggle, holding on a little longer cannot hurt and besides, I am still underwater anyway ... my hunch is that a satisfactory explanation will be forth coming. Sorry, I can't remember who ... was it Magician? But some emails have been answered of late, I received one ... the weight and value\trustworthiness ... next week might be telling.

I think it's time to jump on the sponge wagon, you guy's are convincing me ... timing and straightening out some debt payoff's first ... re-thinking my strategies - I am glad I went on this last business trip, it was the perfect distraction to get my head cleared up from so much activity ... It's been a wild ride the last couple of months ...

Ah, excellent! Herd about the movie (pun intended) ... now it all makes sense! My brain has a weird way of skimming things into it's own little catch phrases ... It would turn your nickname into "goatherdGreg" for instance or one of the guy's on Satwaves - Mydogniles - Into "mydongles" - I blame it on the pot ... I will defenitly go rent the movie now ...

All over the place this morning in my backtracking ...

You guys are killing me....dont bail on me please!!!!....I havent sold any of my BCLE or MGLG shares yet...matter of fact I keep adding to my share counts every chance I get....Im hoping for the next BIG PR....my mistake in SIRI is killing me know...I sold off 30K shares over the last few months between .43 and .55 and now look at it with no PR to boot!!!!
I'm moving to Alaska! Or maybe Texas ... That is remarkable, your STATE pays dividends ... ! We need to send Arnie over there for about 6 months ... Flying back in yesterday from the flat states and seeing the mountain ranges as we got closer to good ol Cali ... I love it here, it's home, we can always escape to the beach or the mountains, Lake Tahoe is on the agenda here soon. (Today is my 11th wedding anniversary, we were married @ The Ponderosa Ranch, in that little white church that was on the show) - But for all this, the state and ... liberals, bureaucrats - even the so called Republicans ... Ugh, I don't know what is possessing me to even go there with this ... It just seems like we are overdosed on everything here - It's a stress filled state especially down in the burb's, in the valley - you can feel it in the air - it's like a constant marathon that never ends ... go, go, go all the time. Every time I go away, even just over the hill to Phoenix the stress level drops - the pace is different ... people aren't as spazed out.

Back to getting caught up ...

Precisely! Add "carbon footprint" to that as well ... You wouldn't believe some of the ridiculous stuff ... questionnaires that I have to fill out for certain customers that are thinking of doing business with us .. that we have to come up to some sort of appropriate, self-determined level of environmental wackiness that they deem is acceptable ... Hey Sean ... Here is my advice - Stick with the stocks! I got very bound up in sports betting a number of years ago, in fact treated it much like the DD we all should be doing in stocks. Back then the internet wasn't anything like it is today so I would hit a Barnes and Nobles, buy up the Sporting News, SI, out of town newspapers ... be constantly glued to ESPN - Study, sort, run statistics and then proceed to basically lose my butt anyway.

The 'house" or your bookie set's the spread\odds and they are so incredibly good at it that you will absolutely lose more often than gain betting against them. The spread is in essence a over\under that you have to beat to win. An example - Let's say it's the 49ers against the Raiders and the 49ers are favored by 6 points "over" - It just simply means that they have to beat the Raiders by 7 points (Ties are a loss, they go to the bookie\house) or more. Can you win? Absolutely! But you will lose far more often ... I can remember playing college games where the spread was 30 something points, thinking there is NO WAY they will beat them by that much ... and sure enough, they would end up beating them by 40! You can also take the opposite, or the "under" and it works the same way - My example on the 30 points being too much above is one that I would have taken the under and would have lost.

I had one streak of about 12 games, NBA - a couple of hundred on each game over the course of several days ... They were calling me "En Fugeo" ("On Fire") - It was thrilling, I was kicking butt and subtly thinking I had this all figured out. This was through a local bookie and in my state of exhilaration went off to Reno to play on the big board at the casino's ... Goodbye 12 game winning streak and bye-bye winnings ... lost it all. Every single game I came up short. Sean, it got really out of hand - I was basically addicted to it - I was spending all my money, even taking advances on future paychecks to play and on the hope I would regain my losses if I could just get on another streak again. I think the light finally broke in on me one day when I bet a 'dime' ($1000) on a baseball game ... they were up by a 5 or 6 runs going into the later innings and I went to sleep feeling very smug and confident ... I awoke in the morning to find out that the other team had rallied and the sinking feeling in my gut, my pocket book ... (I didn't even have the money to cover it) was crushing to say the least- They rightly cut me off from playing until I payed it all back, it took me a couple of weeks to do so and forced me to realize just what all I had gotten caught up in. That was the end of it, thank God. It was a painful lesson, one that I will never hesitate to share and warn anyone about ... It is something that sticks in my mind even here, "investing" in stocks ... there is a fine line and a bit of a difference in buying and selling stock, the emotions and thrill can really throw you ... You have to be careful and wise about it all - It's where having a great group of people like those gathered here are invaluable - Sean, I know you are a bit younger than most of us and if there is anything I have learned and have grown to appreciate is the wisdom that comes just from the plain sense that others have lived longer, learned more, had failures that they pass on so that others do not make the same mistakes ... Listen to them and take it all very, very seriously .. It will spare you many things that are unnecessary and avoidable.

Enough for the speech - But you did admit the first thing, that you do not know anything about football - That is really all you need to know and enough to stay away from the idea of wagering anything on it.

The new flat panel 240hz LCD's are crazy!!!!! Everytime I walk into Costco they have one on playing a BlueRay movie and after awhile stareing at it, I get this queezy feeling in my stomach...too much overload on my small brain...its wild!!!!
Thers just something about quality...my projector image is amazing at the ridiculous size it is...and its only 720p. The image has no "screen door" effect (SDE) and there's no blurring or artifacts etc etc.

You really don't need 1080p on anything smaller than 46", especially if you sit more than 1.5 times the screen size away. I sit 13' from an 11' screen with 720 and its awesome. But i did my research so it wasn't a fluke.

I got my screen from monoprice.com, you can get HDMI cables for $7 there too, simply amazing. The screen for a projector is important only if you buy an inferior projector...or you use it in a heavily light room. A good screen can make a difference, but mine was $300 and does fine (although its pitch black when i watch movies) Some screens can be several thousand $$.

My dad had a 42" and was talking about getting bluray and spending all this money and I had to convince him that he didn't need it. In fact I only have an upconverting DVD player (oppo---get one) so my image when watching movies is only 480p upconverted to 720p, but the DVD player has such great "guts" that it process and sends a great image. So what im saying is I watch 480p on an 11' TV and its amazing...its all about quality products.

Ask any questions I'd be glad to brag..i mean answer...
