Would be nice to have marketing materials going to to the general used car lots that are not CPO because Sirius would likely give a free promo to anyone that has it installed in a vehicle. The car dealer could just give SXM the buyers name, address and phone # and turn on a 3 month promo.

There are problems with that first of all if they dont have a deal with the OEM of the CPO then they are going to be reqired to pay the OEM for the free trial period. It is the same reason that when people think it would be soooo simple to just offer a free ad based subscribtion to all the inactive radios. those people forget that the OEM will have to get paid. As an example the GM old contract is something like 5 dollars each month for each active radio GM put in their models.

Continuing on, analysts argued that the surge in asset-backed securities and improvements in retail auto loan approval rates likely means that consumers now have greater access to credit to purchase cars.
"Automotive asset backed securities issuance, a critical source of capital for captive automotive finance companies, spiked in June and July to $7 billion and $8 billion per month, respectively," KeyBanc explained.
"This represents a material improvement from the $1 billion per month issued from October 2008 to February 2009, as well as a return to the $8 billion per month averaged from 2000-2007," they continued.
True, but thats the old contract. Isnt it possible, that the new GM deal changed some of that, or affected even radios currently "in play". Im just hypothesising, Im not sure of course if that would be possible. But at least assume the new deal eliminates this aspect, or at least reduces this dramatically.
here’s some very detailed data on CPO sales by brand through June:
http://www.autoremarketing.com/ar/ne...y.html?id=9710
so far, looks like annualized CPO sales pace of 1,631,786 but that figure is impaired by GM/Chrysler reorganization and is not seasonally adjusted . . .
