I also agree BUT if your run of the mill donut is a day old... people will pay for the fresh gourmet donut.

Sirius XM need to be Krispy cream and Pandora needs to be one of those donuts you buy at 7 eleven in cellophane.... back when Krispy Creme was like crack... people would have paid for that donut all day long.

I appreciate it man... its such a pain in the ass to do.

    1. the timing always gets in the way of something
    2. talking for an hour straight when talking is not your job, is not an easy thing to do! I wish Tyler would cut it to 45 minutes!

An interesting article I read recently. I share similar opinions.

    http://mashable.com/2009/07/16/free-price/

Which is very similar to what I have said before when people were using the beer analogy... just because you offer it for free doesnt mean that people wont pay for either better beer or to drink it in a better atmosphere. Hence $2 for a beer at a local bar vs $6 beer at a boston nightclub vs $9 beer at a local strip club.

You guys should really think hard about your free vs. paid crutch. Sirius XM should create a product so compelling that people would rather pay for it then use a similar free service... just like they are doing to terrestrial.
Charles you have made john and I and Relmor's point right in this post...

The only way to compare SATRAD is to Cable TV.
you have 3 tiers of service:

1.Basic=all local channels and c-span and community channels..this would be your proposed 2.99 internet feed only 30 channels of music on Smart phones and i-pods..

2.preffered=All music and talk ad supported channels with espn, cnn ETC..some sports live, hockey and college..This would be your 12.95 sub needed to get it

3.Premium=everthing with best of included, depending on which service you have...Howard,MLB,NFL everything...Price to be determined..

Yeah sorry, left out the important part about the beer prices, local bar$2.boston nightclub $6 and strip club or casino(my take there) $9...
point being as an investor which one do you invest in,bars i mean, who makes more money..And Charles, just so you know,i rarely get pissed, just a poor typer,so am direct and not chit chatty with pleasantries like i would be if in person..

P.S.also pay service to Free ad supported is not comparable to me as an investor, because if the app doesn;t generate money by it self then i don't want to make it free,Cable doesn't with basic,

if slacker/pandora etc did not exist . how would people get music on the iphone? (not including itunes) only through siriusxm app. that is why i consider them competition. even though we are late to the game, this market share belongs to us and now we need to attack the internet market the same way we did the terrestrial radio market. very aggressively.

im not that big on the rankings now. lets see in 1 year where sirius is ranked... but in fairness to irish/john/relmor DO WE KNOW FOR A FACT HOW THE RANKINGS ARE DETERMINED? if i delete the app does it drop in rankings? are the rankings based on total downloads, if so, then theoretically they can all be number 1 if the apps have 100% penetration rate.

sirius app can have 100% penetration rate but wont mean anything unless they convert to subs. that also makes the ranking debate useless.

to convert trial users to subs means we have to have a better app than slackdora. we already have better content, that is not debatable. maybe personalized stations, lyrics while the song is playing.
